This lady was in such a rush, that she decided to pass the car ahead of her, hits an oncoming motorcyclist head-on, killing them and the maximum she can be charged with under NS law is $160 fine??? Are you fucking serious? What a slap in the face to this poor family. At the very least it should be vehicular manslaughter. This poor family has had their world turned upside down in an instant and the person responsible is only going to get fined $160. No license suspension, no mandatory remedial driver safety classes, no driving restrictions, nothing. Just pay the equivilant of your cable bill and we’ll call it even. Unbelievable.
Koda, you mean to tell me that if you were driving a vehicle and you heard a rather loud thump coming from the vicinity of your vehicle, even if you didn’t see anything, that you wouldn’t stop to see what the hell it was? Hitting a cyclist is going to make some noise, unless you’re driving a snowplow or something equivalent, and I dare say that you’d probably feel some sort of impact too. You’d just chalk it up to a stray cat or something going bump in the night, would you? Brilliant.

Maybe there were witnesses. Maybe OB was there at the time. Maybe the cyclist saw the vehicle before doing the face plant on the asphalt. Could be any number of scenarios.
I thought everyone knew killing someone in a crosswalk, improper passing etc. is a slap on the wrist.

I put a comment out that MAYBE the driver DID NOT know they hit someone…..honestly, could happen……could be music too loud …… could have been texting ….. may have been drunk…… gawd, I dunno, could have had a heart attack afterward and went directly to the hospital one block away…………i really do not know……….
As for what I would do in such a case……..stop and accept ownership of the event as it played out………but, I was not driving a vehicle down South Park that was involved in the incident.

Hey More, I was able to bring more than the allowed amount of liquor back from the Dominican Republic 😛 They just told me “Just this one time” teehee. I brought back 2 liters of tequila – I wasn’t sure what the exact amount you could bring back was but I was pretty sure I was over but I just wanted to see if I could get it through because I’ve been through customs before with too much stuff and they let it slide with no cost to me. So it worked again :D. I guess that’s my super power.

Depeche Mel, the last time I was in the D.R., they had bottles of aged Rum, that had no discription of contents, except it was 10 year lod rum. They were tapered bottles that held just about a quart, but were deceptive looking because of their shape & I told customs they were pints & I had 3 of them.
