GOOD! I hate those stupid cloth bags, save the environment my ass. I swear the only reason people bring them is to piss cashiers off, and it’s working! They take longer to pack, they don’t stand up by themselves, people complain “OH IT’S TOO HEAVY” or “OH IT’S NOT HEAVY ENOUGH!” Fuck. And then there are the people that bring the tiny ones you can only fit two things in, WHY EVEN BOTHER?
Stop going with the crowd and be a rebel, use plastic, PLEASE. —Plastic For Life

Guerilla Funk?
PF!!! I haven’t seen you around! Missed ya! Hope your good.
I like my reusable bags…they real grocery store ones.
Fuck you OP. I’ll use whatever the fuck I want!
I like my bags too. This is a bizarre bitch – you would think people hate the plastic ones that tear and clutter up the landfills, and your kitchen, etc, etc.
I liked packing the reusable ones better when I was a cashier, but they can get pretty nasty after a while if you don’t wash them.
Why hello there, PF. 😉 Are you going to take me up on my offer of sushi?
Mmm… sushi. I’m going out with a friend for sushi tonight. Must be that kind of day.
I prefer the reusable bags, the bigger the better. A well known swedish(?) furniture store has the best ones imo.
I also prefer to bag my own since most cashiers don’t show my hard earned food enough respect.
OB, just stick with “yes sir, no sir, any type of bag you want full sir”
Aww RC, I’ve missed you too!! I’ve been crazy busy at work 🙁
Brendon… maybe lol just name a time!
I HATED bagging reusuable bags when I was a cashier because the plastic ones were already on hooks so waaay easier. Although now that I shop I love them.
I’m always skeptical about things that are supposed to be environmentally friendly, more often then not they consume more energy to make than the alternatives do… I have no idea in this case though, as I don’t find grocery bag interesting int he slightest. All I know is that recycling is a waste of time unless it’s aluminum cans and whatnot. Tangent! Anyway I prefer the cloth bags because they don’t cut into my hands when I’m carrying heavy items. I couldn’t care less about their supposed good impact on the environment, because I suspect it doesn’t exist.
There’s a very BIG BOX type store that you need a membership at that has the best bags ever! You could fit a dresser in them…..and they have freezer ones too.
The majority of people just keep those bags in the trunks of their cars…..the grocery stores still continue pumping out the plastic bags.
I find cloth bags to be terribly inconvenient personally. I’d almost never remember to bring them and once the store that is super stopped charging for plastic bags I stopped caring. Though I did end up getting a free cloth bag from a certain video game store when I went to pick up my SC2 Collector’s Edition back in July because they didn’t have any plastic bags big enough left.
Ecoterrorist!
You should always keep on in your purse, b195 🙂
Or, I keep them on a hook next to the door so I see them before I leave the house.
I keep restocking the supply in my boyfriend’s truck too, but he never seems to have them when I go looking for them. Mainly because he’s OCD and he “cleans” them up. Like two perfectly folded cloth bags (I KNEW they had to be folded properly) were really THAT “unclean”. Grrr… ah well.
Meh. Like I said, I really don’t care. I just stick all my plastic bags in a big blue bag with all the other recyclables. It works for me.
When I was in the UK, the had short & wide heavy-duty plastic bags which I liked way better than the fabric ones at Sobeys, Superstore, or Pete’s. I hate the the ones we use here 🙁 I’m so short that if I hold the handle and walk with these bags, they drag on the ground!
Anyhow, I use re-usable bags until I have a need for the regular plastic ones in my house (use them in the bathroom garbage, to pitch the stuff when I clean out the hamster cage, etc) and when I have enough I go back on the re-usables.
As a shopper, I use them because I don’t have a car and they won’t tear. But when I was a cashier at Stupidstore, I HATED them. I got out shortly after they were introduced, thankfully. But they SUCK. They are hard to stand up, and then when you pack them, customers bitch that they’re too heavy. Well what the fuck do you expect? You have like $100 worth of groceries, you don’t want plastic, and you only have two cloth bags! Suck it up!
I love my reusable bags, thank you very much.
I can get everything I need to purcahse into two of them, which is MUCH easier to carry than 9 plastic bags. I’m paying for the groceries, if using reusable bags makes things a bit easier for me, then you need to suck it up.
i always pack my own cloth bags anyway. some are better than others
Sometimes I use them, sometimes I don’t. They do make a handy emergency choice when I run out of bio deg doggie poop bags.
The problem with the cloth bags are that they claim to be good for the environment. Look where the bags were made, mine were from china. How much fuel was wasted bringing these bags here, you could produce/use a bunch of plastic ones just to equal the impact of the manufacturing and shipping of the cloth ones.
There’s so much misinformation in the eco-movement it’s a huge pain to sift through all the bad science and politically influenced fluff articles to get to the tangible evidence that stand up to close scrutiny.
In short I’m too lazy to have an opinion on which is better for the environment, cloth or plastic bags.
Where were the plastic bags manufactured? Probably not down the road…
Also, my cloth bags are made from cloth, while plastic bags are a petroleum product (although some are made partly from recycled materials).
There are certainly a lot of factors to consider, but all in all, it’s a pretty easy contribution to switch from plastic to reusable bags. If humans aren’t capable of suffering such a minor inconvenience for the sake of the planet, we’re pretty much screwed.
But I kinda knew that anyway.
I go plastic…
need garbage bags.
I do love the costco ones though for when I have to travel, they are pretty massive.
Plastic bags are perfect for disposing kitty litter in. /shrug
you mean you don’t put it in the green bin? kidding
What green bin?
my neighbours^^^
I can never remember the damn things, the girlfriend (yep, same one ) is pretty good at it, but she misses as well.
As for all of you on that store you ‘join’ to shop at, I use one of their bags to bring in firewood.
You can get 8 or more pieces of hardwood in one of those suckers…if you use the longer handles it’s more like 10 plus, I can hardly lift the s.o.b.
Maybe their shopping carts will work better, More. Unless they are equipped with one of those fancy brakes that stop the wheels when you go too far away from the store. I laugh when I see a few carts stuck on the same spot in the parking lot and imagine the face of the person who tried to push them home.
Some places give out reusable bags when you shop there. I got one when i bought some stuff at lululemon and when I bought something at the roots store and smu gave me one because I spent over $200 last year.
Sobeys also replaces their bags if they get torn or whatever 🙂
Plastic rawks. I haven’t bought a garbage or lunch bag in decades.
timothy said rawks…screee. i’m still thinking about firewood and cold cottage mornings
Fuck no not my bitch, but green bags are stupid as fuck.
An oldie, but a goodie – my bag has 2 nuts in it and it’s re-useable and re-loadable. Boom Boom – Basil Brush.
yeah, but o.p., what happens when you go to a place that no longer uses plastic bags. hope you have wide long arms, because you will have to carry all your shit out somehow, by yourself. take fucking boxes then.
I use both. I like using the cloth bags (when I remember) because it’s easier hauling the groceries up the stairs to my apartment. But I go plastic when I’m running low on garbage bags.
I get they are a pain in the ass for the cashier to pack them, so I don’t mind if it takes a bit longer or one is heavy and one is light. It’s still easier than trying to carry 8 or 9 plastic bags.
I just get annoyed when people say “Save the plastic”. Like plastic bags caused our environmental problems.
I remember telling this to a few people for a laugh around the oil spill.
Oh, and I swear I’ve seen two people take their green bags out of the trunk of their shinny Hummer.
Classy, Baz. ha ha.
Reminds me of “The Mailman Song” Baz.:
“I can come in all sorts of weather.
Because my little bag is made of leather”
@notsoNTH , no I couldn’t use a cart.
I live out in the country, the yards not paved, neithers the driveway or the road for that matter !
When I know its going to be nasty for a couple of days I take a my large wheelbarrow out the basement shop door & load it full of wood, holds 20 + pieces & will run the woodstove all day & most of the night in February ~:)
i use the green box things. they are easy to clean, extremely fast through the checkout– the only thing the cashier has to do is scan them through, they fit in the car easily and can be used for a million different things.
green box forever!!!!
agreed, i have about ten of them and they have many uses. don’t rely on the straps if the load is heavy
“Plastic For Life” and your children’s life, and their children’s life … you get the point right.
Donk! Nice to see your words again. How is your seasonal hiatus going? RAWK?
My hiatus was an attempt to focus for exams … I have 4 day break then back at it … sadly.

I disagree with you OB. I choose not to type my side of the debate because as I’ve found out on several recent comments, these Bitches are old as fuck.
I’m only typing because I wish to achieve top commenter by sun down. Nothing will happen if I don’t, only my self esteem will take a big fuckin hit.
