I’m currently doing a work term for school and I’m not getting paid. I have to work part time somewhere else to get any income. You guys knew I was on a budget and that I didn’t really wanna spend money going downtown, but you insisted and I gave in. I had some money saved up from being so damn frugal. To save money, we pre-drank and then went out. And I wouldn’t have to spend too much on cabs since there were four of us. But one of you brought another friend out who came to join us later. Come time to go home, I’m told I’d have to get my own cab back BY MYSELF! Since this other guy joined us, he needed a way home too. I asked why I, of all people, had to spend $20+ to cab home when it would have been only about $5 if I joined you three. You all work full time for pay! I’m working for free! Your argument was that the new guy who joined us was unfamiliar to Halifax and I’m a little out of the way. Okay, I am a bit further out than the rest of you, but that’s not the fucking point! I’m making far less money than you guys right now and it was your idea for me to come out! None of you would even fork over a little money to help pay for the unexpected cab ride alone I was gonna have to take to arrive home safe and sound! So here I was, shelling over 20 bucks more to get home alive because you guys are incredible douches! Fuck you all and rot in fucking hell, assholes! —With Friends Like You Who Needs Enemies?

Oh, FFS! Just walk the fuck home if you don’t have the money to spare for a cab. Better yet, if you can’t afford to waste money on bars/cabs, then don’t. Whiny people piss me off!!!
Valid point, but you did put yourself in that position. I don’t think I’ve ever gone downtown and paid less than I expected to.
un-friend them on facebook.
that should get your point across…
oh and ballz up when it comes to your life.
If you couldn’t afford it, you should have thrown a few stipulations their way before frolicking off to drunkville with larry, curly, and moe.
oh, and the new guy, shemp.
ALWAYS have a contingency plan when you’re going downtown — a ‘worst case scenario,’ which for you is a $20 cab ride, and if you can’t afford that, don’t go downtown.
I’m not saying your friends are a bunch of winners here, but unless you put stipulations on it like zed mentioned (sounds like you didn’t, you ‘figured’ they’d cab it back with you), you can’t really complain.
Poor planning on your part.
Life is about choices, OP, and YOU made the choice to go out in spite of your dire financial situation. Start taking responsibility for your own fuck-ups instead of blaming your buddies.
OB…you need to take a moment to look up the difference in a friend & an acquaintance. You obviously were out with 3 people who definately are not your friends.
hopefully you learned a lesson here. if there is a next time, they help you out, if not, then fuck them.
If you can’t afford to go out, then don’t go out. Typical kid, drink at home then go to a bar to enjoy whatever is happening there (DJ, band, karaoke, or whatever) without contributing. Do the bar a favour and stay the fuck home and quit leaching.
find new friends. when we were younger if one of our buddies was strapped for cash, we’d chip in, except for the guy who never had any money. he had money, he just never brought it with him
When you go downtown with your “buddies”, I would think all bets are off. If you can afford the worst case scenario, then you’re okay. Don’t blame other people for twisting your arm to do something you couldn’t afford, it was your call. Maybe if it’s so important that you go for them, get some cash up front, maybe $20.00.
If you can’t afford to get home safely, I’m presuming getting loaded is a hardship too.
Here’s a crazy idea: make sure you can afford the night before you commit to it, and spend your few dollars on food and necessaries, instead of going to the Loser Dome with people you claim are shitty friends anyway.
Enjoy your shitty life, dickhead!

When one goes out downtown would should always be prepared for unexpected solo cab rides home, among other things to be prepared for.
If you couldn’t afford to go downtown you shouldn’t have gone. You got yourself into the mess, not your friends. Next time have the balls enough to tell them you have to bow out, but maybe next time.
