Snowed Out-of-Business
To all the businesses who decided against opening on Saturday after the roads had been plowed, way to go. You lost my business and money. Tell your employees to buy some fucking winter tires!

part of the reason the streets may have been plowed is that everyone stayed off them. I was out around 11:30 and they were not great then. How long have you lived in eastern canada???nothin else to whine about today?
There are more important things in Nova Scotia to complain about … ones that we can change. The weather isn’t one of them. Deal with it.
TRY getting snow tires this time of year — there are massive wait times for appointments and it’s even tough getting in to first come first serve tire places.Shit I have snow tires on and even I wouldn’t go out this morning given the state of the roads. Elvis Q is right: the streets are plowed BECAUSE no one was on them — it’s kind of difficult plowing AROUND a plethora of cars. If you don’t like it, OP, go live in florida.
Oh, fuck you Alex, entitlement much? I’ll go on the assumption other businesses had the same issues ours had:The buses weren’t running right away. Automatically half the staff couldn’t get in. I barely made it since none of the sidewalks had been plowed(and are still not cleared). And ALL the damn roads are NOT plowed, South Park and Spring Garden weren’t up until well after 12, and at least one highway(in from Endfield) is a nightmare.
I got my snow tires bought and put on four weeks ago as soon as I heard those pepsi’s were buying them all up.
This isn’t whining…it’s completely unvalidated bullshit spewed forth from the mouth of someone who obviously has nothing better to do on a storm day than bitch and moan about the malls not being open. Do you, OP, even realize what the transit situation was like this morning? Probably not…since you most likely got to sleep in while the very employees you’re bitching about were left scrambling and stranded this morning, trying to get to your precious fucking shopping mall/grocery store/wtfever retail wonderland. Myself, I worked 12 hours overnight (non-retail), and on about an hour’s sleep because it was a last minute shift that I had to work…so when I was finished my shift at 10 this morning, I had no way home at ALL because none of the cab companies had cabs on the roads, so I waited patiently for a bus. I had to crawl through a snowbank approximately 3 feet deep and about 10 feet wide to get to the road where the bus stop would have been if it hadn’t of been completely buried, and when I got off at my stop to walk home, I was greeted by unplowed streets/sidewalks, therefore having to trudge my way through about 2-3 feet of snow to finally get home and collapse into bed. There were cars stuck in the snow everywhere…and right across the street from my building, a SNOW PLOW was stuck in the snow. Smell the irony in that one.So, OP, I guess what I’m trying to say is…shut the fuck up, and slither back under the fucking pedestal you seem to be perched on. Your individual retail spending habits are not worth the lives and safety of the employees of the stores you shop in.
Well seeing how metro transit wasnt even running should have been a sign. Did you need to get to the stores so bad before 1 o clock? it was for safety reasons you ass hole
Um, the fucking snow plow driver pushed the snow just about halfway up my street and left it in the middle of the road, blocking ANYONE from leaving our street, btw, I donot live right in halifax, need a bus or car to get to work intown. There were no buses running, for some/most people it didn’t matter wether they had snow tires or not, maybe they just couldn’t get there jerk. I went and got everything I needed, the night before, I paid attention to the weather warnings of snow and wind.
Shut the fuck up, OP! Some of us don’t even drive, we take the bus! Actually we did open, just only an hour later because we couldn’t get there on time! The buses were delayed even after they finally started running again. It took my brother and I nearly 3 fucking hours due to bus delays, breakdowns, and transfers, because the fucking store owners were forcing us to get to work and open the fucking store… Just for you pathetic desperate losers who are willing to risk your life (when you don’t have to) to get out there and on the roads to go to fucking store/restaurant!
You know what? I live downtown, on Windsor St, which is a pretty busy road. I woke up on Saturday morning to get ready to go to work, I went outside and discovered that my road wasn’t yet plowed, my driveway wasn’t yet plowed, and the snow was drifted up past the windows of my car. I got my boots on and started shovelling, as I waited for my boss to make a decision on whether to open. The mall was closed, the buses were not running, and she still decided to open. A drive that normally would take me 25 minutes to Bayers Lake took me almost 2 hours, and you want to know why? Because when I finally did get out of my yard, I had to drive almost 20km/hour because of the unplowed state of the roads. A bus got wedged horizontally in front of me making a turn, and I got stuck in the middle of an intersection which was fairly dangerous considering that people were having a hard time stopping. I feared for my life for about 20 minutes. After that, I got stuck behind another car that got stuck on Lacewood Drive, again putting myself in a bad situation where I could have been hit easily. I am LUCKY that I made it to work at all, and even luckier that my coworkers from Tantallon and Waverley got there at all. It’s not about snow tires. It’s about giving the city TIME to properly plow the streets. Here’s a tip: if the police and emergency vehicles are telling you to stay off the roads, STAY OFF THE ROADS.
I’m sorry that Metro Transit stopped service on Saturday morning so I couldn’t get to my store to open on time. I’m sorry that I’m a poor student and rely on the bus service to take me everywhere. I’m sorry that I do not live in my store in order to better accommodate your need to shop in a foot of snow.I’m sorry that the roads had been ploughed and the bus service STILL wasn’t running. I’m also sorry that I had to wade through snow in order to get the bus once service resumed. I’m sorry that I had to take my time crossing the parking lot to ensure that I didn’t break a leg or arm in order to allow you to begin shopping on time. Fuck you.
