I am sick and tired of being discriminated agianst because I smoke. Everytime you come on here, read the paper and watch the news its nothing but bad mouthing smokers! Funny thing is i was watching a Crime Stoppers commercial agianst ilegal tabaccoo and the big point they made was this -> if you purchase ilegal tabac the funds are not put toward childrens education and health care.
I just think it is ironic that our money for smokes goes towards childrens education and health care.
Basicly to all the people that bitch about smokers they should be thankful that we are paying for their childrens education and there health care because thats what they use the money for!

I really don’t think people give a shit if you smoke…if you want to increase your risk for multiple diseases and cancers then go for it! But DON’T smoke in public where non-smokers are…we choose NOT increase our risks and we have that choice! You don’t have the right to take that away. So, get over yourself and go choke on a cigarette.
I don’t care if you smoke or not, but if you are going to smoke in a public place where there are no ashtrays, then please take a plastic pill bottle or something to deposit your butts when your done with them and take ’em home with you… City streets littered with those butts is fucking disgusting…
You should realize that smoking IS a drug addiction, and usually drug addicted people (YOU) will try and rationalize their behavior as much as possible which I can see is what you are attempting to do in this post. To put things into perspective for you. I don’t believe it is fair that people smoke in public places…regardless if it is outside or not. I think that the only place a person should be allowed to smoke is in their own homes (if they OWN them) and that is it. Right now I am living in an apartment and am 9 months pregnant and my neighbor smokes heavily in his apartment. The smoke actually leaches into my apartment and I am powerless to do anything about it. He does have a balcony but refuses to use it. Do you think that is fair for me and my baby? Am I discriminating against him – no. Am I pissed off because I am powerless – yes.As for the commercial, I agree it is stupid. But fact is, people who smoke (and the children that they smoke around) put a huge strain on our health care system…so in effect you are paying to smoke and also paying for the eventual health care that you will use from the effects of your addiction. Your smoking is neither doing me a favor OR you a favor…and I pay taxes for YOU too.My advice, smoke em if you got em, and don’t complain about the taxes. And if you do smoke, be courteous of others and then maybe they wont make faces at you anymore. Try asking people around you before you light up if they mind if you do….that would be a good first step.
Quite the educated fella that posted this.Since when does money paid for cigarettes goes to education or health care. Can you imagine, a cigarette company donating to education. That’s exactly why they’re in the business. Not to addict you and steel your money, no but to give he profits to schools and health care.How many times has the goverment lied, and still lies to you?

Society in general is becoming less tollerant of smokers all the time. That’s just how it is, and there isn’t a damn thing that you, or any other smoker can do about it. Wanna rebel against what society dictates? Fine, go ahead and poison yourself. Noone really cares what choices you make for your own health, but it isn’t fair to those around you to breathe in that shite. It’s your choice to do that, so please stop the pity party and think in some more realistic terms.
It was easier to quit than to have to listen to all the ranting and raving for and against. It is a horrible addiction, it is hard as hell to quit but you might as well since it won’t be too long before the only place you can smoke is in your own home (forget about apartments or condos, the trend seems to be non-smoking rentals) and if the smoke Nazis have their way, they’ll try to do that too.
And Yes, the smoke from cars, trucks and busses does bother me. That’s why I don’t put my lips around exhaust pipes, even though I really, really want to, and the car companies have told me that it’s a really strong addiction, and It’s okay if I can’t resist, and it would really be my fault. We have, since the 60’s, legislated ever more clean forms of transportation (If you’re old enough, you will remember people (smokers mostly) disabling emissions controls to get a few extra horse power). Researchers are looking for cleaner, more efficient forms as we speak. But since the ‘what about cars?’ argument is crap anyway, I’ll ask you smokers this (though I doubt even one of you is smart enough to see the irony): If secondhand smoke isn’t really harmful, why should YOU worry about my car if you are not actually sucking the fumes directly from the exhaust pipe?

Smoking is an addiction. You can’t ration with someone who is addicted to something, benefits or none. You can sit here and argue all day about smoking vs car exhaust pollution, (and you probably will), but it doesn’t matter, because people are going to smoke them as long as they’re around. Don’t hold your breath waiting for that benefit Jane, because it doesn’t exist. This is an indulgence. Period.

Actually matt I’m a full-time student and work 20 hours a week…I’m on my “study break”, procrastinating if that’s any of your business. I actually do work at my job….not sit on my ass all day wasting my employers money by playing on the computer like people (YOU).
