You took money from my roommate and I as an ‘application’ fee for your apartment. When I asked for it back you denied me and told me I was an ignorant fuck. You refuse to let me serve you hearing papers. I have a mental illness and I am on welfare. I need that money more than you. Thanks for denying me food and medication for the next month you shit head. —You Make Me Sick

  1. Who the hell pays a fee to ‘apply’ to give someone your rent?
    Who is the real shithead?
    Two guesses……

  2. How did he refuse service? You saw him and all you have to do is drop them in front of him. They cannot refuse service once you are in front of him. If you don’t want to do it, then get a professional to do it.

  3. “You refuse to let me serve you hearing papers.”

YMMS: Hi, Mr. Landlord? I have a writ here to serve you. When will you be home?
    Mr. L: Sorry, I won’t be around.
YMMS: But I have to serve you this writ.
Mr. L: Yes, I understand but can’t help you.

HRPD: Hi, Mr. Criminal? We have an warrant here for your arrest. When will you be home?
    Mr. C: Sorry, I won’t be around.
HRPD: But I have to serve you this writ.
Mr. C: Yes, I understand but can’t help you.

    Substituted service? (I can’t write anymore, I’m so perplexed…)

  4. Application fees are just that.. a fee to process your application. Whether you’re accepted or denied comes from that application process. You weren’t denied anything, oh except an apartment — take some responsibility for what you choose to do — that is, give a non-refundable APPLICATION fee to apply.

  5. If it was me, i’d look him straight in the eye and say ‘you can do a lot worse than returning my money.’ Keeping my money would not produce a profit for him. I’d offer no threats, no warnings, and no ‘I told you so…’. I would tell no one, not even my best friend. THAT is how you get caught for what is about to happen to his BMW or what have you.

  6. According to the NS Tenancy Board, landlords aren’t allowed to charge an application fee to prospective tenants.
