Yesterday, I left burnside doing the speedlimit, and there was traffic all around me.

This guy in a milk truck (maybe a courrier) gets to the mag hill and slows down to 45 km/h. It backed up traffic for atleast a km. It would not surprise me if over 1000 vehicles were affected.

This pisses me off. It wasn’t a fuel truck or any other huge rig. There is no excuse to drive that slow. Why? Because all trucks in this country need to meet DOT regulations, AND i am pretty certain that a truck incapable of performing as well as a 30 year old VW Beetle would not be approved for our roads. What does that tell me? The driver is an arse, not an idiot – he knows how to drive, he is just a really huge arse! —face in palm

  1. Well I’m not too sure how serious to take the OB as they can’t tell the difference between a milk and courier truck and think 1,000 cars can fit on Magazine Hill. But I’ll forgive them for that now. Now OB, it is easy to tell you have never driven a truck before. If you had, then you would know, if the truck was loaded, it takes times to get up to speed. Do you think commercial drivers like to putt putt up any hill? Time is money, not to mention the extra gas (or diesel) they burn to get up those hills.

  2. Where does this mag you speak of take one? I think the OB is pissed at being in Burnside and then having to get to the nether regions of HRM or beyond …. this is what is the kicker, but easier to blame the milkman who is probably their REAL daddy!

  3. Could very well have been a milk truck…only problem the driver had was to let the herd of cows out. Just wanted the customers to have the freshest milk and cream.

  4. OB has a point. My truck doesn’t even downshift on the mag cuz it doesn’t need to.

The mag is not a mountain. It is just a fucking hill.

I just got back from working road construction near Revelstoke BC. I’ve seen transports hit 100 klicks per hour on the mountains near Revelstoke.

  5. Nurse, as the politician say, that is a great question. Of course what I really hate is two slow trucks trying to pass each other and holding all the traffic back.

  6. Maybe it was a sudden engine power loss and they’re limping it to their destination or the shop?

  7. Bro Tim, my wife’s POS Tercel does 0-100km/h in 30 seconds on the mag without going over 2000 rpm.
