Thank you to all of the courteous drivers out there that stop and allow me to cross the street at an unmarked intersection.

In this kind of rain, it’s nice when you recognize that the longer I stand there and wait, the more soaked I get. Thanks for helping me get home a little less drenched! —Pleased Pedestrian

  1. I bet it would have especially been awesome if there was another car behind them, and since it was raining and all, passed them for lack of seeing you.

Unless this is not a main street, totally not safe dude.

  2. What do you suggest I do ? Walk a few more blocks in the pouring rain to an intersection with a set of lights to cross? Only to then walk back a few more blocks to get where I was going?

I’m not crossing at any spot on a street, I’m at an intersection. Most do not have a crosswalk with lights.

Drivers are supposed to keep an eye out for pedestrians, and their surroundings in general. Especially in such bad weather. I wasn’t dashing out, nor were the drivers coming to a hard stop to let me cross. They were just aware that I was waiting to cross and took the right and safe action to stop for me.

When I’m driving, and the car in front of me stops at an intersection, I don’t get impatient and try to go around them. More often than not, that driver is stopping so a pedestrian can cross, or they are chosing to not block an intersection to allow other cars to cross.

I’m used to the impatient and inconsiderate drivers, both as a pedestrian and a driver and a cyclist too.

I sent this love for those that respect everyone else out there just trying to get from point A to B. Regardless of how someone is getting there. 🙂
