It’s all we hear about. You’ve annoyed just about every employee with your non-stop chatter about your precious little guy, hell you even show the same damn pictures on a daily basis. No one cares and some of your workers have kids and you don’t hear them non-stop chattering about what little Mikey did. You only got under my skin yesterday (Friday) when you mentioned you’ve been locking him up in a kennel throughout the day. Up until you said this I brushed it off because you literally pay me to hear about your dog. I think maybe I was out of line in my response and may not have a job come next week but what I said, “How dare you lock a puppy up for eight-plus hours a day.” You defended yourself by saying how destructive he is when you’re not home. Hmmmmm…maybe you should have had the responsible foresight to realize this would be an issue. But no, just lock him up five to six days a week in a kennel. And bullshit its his “safe place.” —I Can’t Tolerate This Abuse

There are no bad dogs, only bad owners. This person is a bad owner, a horrendous one, in fact. His pet is nothing more than some kind of sick status symbol that he can brag about. Leaving a dog alone for 8+ hrs. a day amounts to cruelty in my books. That poor pup.
Dear M. Abuse.
Being a lifelong dog owner, and knowing more than one dog walker, I feel qualified to post an opinion.
Tell your boss that 80% of all behavioral problems with dogs can be attributed to lack of exercise and socialization.
Dogs, especially puppies, need at least one hour of exercise/play a day. Walking around the block on-leash is not exercise, and letting your dogs sniff noses is not socialization.
There are several top notch dog walkers in the Metro area. “Tails to Trails” is just one of them, the owner knows everybody, if she can’t help, she knows somebody that can.
To anybody thinking of getting a puppy….. 8 weeks is far too young (imho) to take a baby away from its mother. But hey, that’s what puppy mills do.
I’m not a dog owner myself, but I have a couple of friends who are serious dog people, and I know that crating a dog for several hours/overnight is a common and accepted practice. A quick google search will explain the practice an why it’s perfectly humane if done correctly. So while there’s not enough information here to assure me that the dog is being crated correctly, the fact that this person crates his dog during the day doesn’t automatically make him a bad dog owner. As far as I know, the only animal welfare organization that is actively opposed to crating is PETA, so I’ll just leave that there.
My dog will go in his crate when we’re home and just lay there sometimes. The door stays open. If you do it right, crating is fine.
However this does sound like a horrible boss.
OB clearly doesn’t know fv£k all about dogs.
I agree crating doesn’t necessarily indicate abuse. But there are better options. Instead of telling him/her what you think they are doing wrong you could have said something like…have you thought about doggie daycare instead. That would have been more professional.
It’s as bad as people referring them as “fur babies” or their “children”. Unless they came from a human womb and human sperm, they are not your children. They are pets. Almost as bad as parents who treat their kids as friends rather than their children.
I <3 dogs.
Taste like chicken…
Pets and children should not be used to bring attention to the adult or owner
