To the teens on Silistria Drive in Cole Harbour: When you see a car coming, move your damn net! Once upon a time you used to scurry to move the net from the MIDDLE of the road when you seen cars coming. Now you all continue on with your game and look at me like I’m crazy for driving through your game! Find a damn rink or have some effin respect. The road is for CARS not hockey games! —I’m going to plow through your net next time

should be; when you SAW cars coming…..
Man, “car!” always rang out whenever we played… it was almost a competition to see who could yell it first/fastest. What’s wrong with the damn kids today? (shakes cane). You won’t be the next Sid if yer dead!

don’t bother swerving, just go thru it, bet they get the hint in a hurry.
We all know where this is going. No point in talking to the parents or the kids, unless you want your home firebombed. Call the cops and have them speak to the parents/kids. With the icy road conditions, those kids would leave a dent in your bumper.
in the winter do kids shout “PLOW”
They don’t move ’em, I’ll drive right fucking through their nets. Respect, get what you give, obviously these little fuckers need to learn some.
Anyone who states the road is for CARS and not hockey games oughtta either be ashamed of themselves or are simply not from Canada.
Maybe next time try a different approach- stop the car and ask them to move the net after the next goal…. when someone scores, cheer and honk your horn like crazy. They’ll remember you and next time will most likely do what they can to make sure you can get through. Street hockey is part of growing up and respect is mutual.
Sebastian probably called the cops on the neighbourhood kids as a child himself for not being allowed to play road hockey in legwarmers and stilettos.
Jonno, gotta go with OP on this. It is still a ROAD not a RINK. I am a neighbor and the shitty job HRM did the last two storms kind of blurred the distinction. The road is pretty crappily plowed so there is even less room to bypass. Regardless of our heritage, they still need to respect the vehicle. Technically they are jaywalking, right???
OP, I am on Silistria and they have always shown me and my family their complete respect. Is it the bunch right near Beaufort? Take a video of the incident and then you have backup in case you need to call someone. Or buy a train horn and by the time these kids pick the turds out of their undies you’ll be long gone.
jonnoman – stopping your car and talking to kids in Cole Harbour = Death Wish.
Haha…. but Guyute, where in the world would Sidney Crosby, and the state of hockey in Canada be today if kids were never allowed to play hockey on the street in Cole Harbour? Have respect friend! We could potentially have the gold medal-winning goal scorer at the 2026 Winter Olympics playing in the “Silistria Dr Classic” as we speak!!!!
J: she said “Find a damn rink or have some effin respect”
all she is asking is they cede for 20 seconds, not fuck off and never get on the road… I am confident we wouldn’t notice the difference in Sid’s ability the loss of 20 minutes over 10+ years may have caused.
Just do what I do on my street…don’t honk, don’t slow down and don’t swerve. They can get that net and their awkward little bodies out of the way faster than you think.
google image search for “crosby idiot” brought the rage down….
what a douche.
lay on the horn… creep up and start pushing the nets… they’ll get the picture.
jonno, you can’t seriously say you would stop and watch AND cheer if you encountered the hockey event of the gommick olympics down the street walking from the bus stop at the corner.
Shuttup zZz. Crosby is a good guy. Especially now that he’s grown up a bit. I’m totally not ashamed to be a big Crosby fan, he’s incredibly talented. Now if he would just recover from that damn injury…
he is talented at the moment… at keeping that bench good and warm. 🙂
Not everything he touches has to be toured around and on display every-fucking-where.
I’m sure he took the bus a few times… we should find out which ones and take them on tour as well. Oh and he likely went to the movies too.. get his seats and put them on tour… he’s the ‘golden’ boy. I’m just waiting for his first scandal…
you ‘fans’ are going to eat each other….
Meh, I’m still a Tiger fan too – though his game sucks without the extra stimulation he was receiving…
star power has no power over me…it’s a good walk spurled ralmn http://locksparkfarm.files.wordpress.com/2…
Back in my day (teehee, like not that long ago) when people on my old Cole Harbour street would play road hockey we would always move out of the way ASAP when we saw a car coming. It seems like nowadays kids don’t feel like they should move them. I wonder why this is? My old street in another Crapmouth neighbourhood, the kids would look at you and keep playing until you honked. And would often hit your car with those little orange balls or their sticks. Like seriously. It seems more and more kids today are brats! Probably because of the trend of kids having kids. Does anyone plan children anymore?
Melelectric, just another effect of the ME generation. Everyone says we should discuss things with brats and punks and then things will alllllll be rosy. How’s it worked? The proof is in the pudding.
Do what I did when some twat literally parked her car in the middle of the road, got out and was chatting with her friends a few feet away. Drive right up to them and lay on the horn until they move the fuck outta the way.
A good old fashioned HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK will get them moving in a flash.
