It doesn’t seem to matter how many times the city “threatens” to impose fines or do the work and send you the bill, many hours after a storm I find myself walking on the road as the sidewalks are never clear. Yesterday I went out in the late afternoon to find myself walking on the road to reach my destination… this certainly wasn’t safe along the #7 Hwy. Ironic thing, the city sidewalks were not done either. How does the city expect people to take this seriously when they don’t seem to themselves. Then I get the dirty looks, the middle fingers, and the beeps from cars because I am on the road. Thank goodness for bike lanes, or I surely would have been a goner yesterday! I hear ya, OP. The sidewalks on the mumford road (particularily the Mumford road overpass, which is city property) haven’t been cleared… even 2 whole days after the storm hit. Having to climb through 4 foot snow piles that the street plows created proved quite difficult. I nearly fell into oncoming traffic multiple times.
Seriously Halifax, get your shit together before someone gets hurt.
The bus stops too. Even bus shelters in Bayer’s Lake and on Willet are not plowed out yet and supposedly another storm is coming. I saw people standing on snow in the shelter! There were no other places to stand. I had to walk a cow path on a sidwalk today on the way to lacewood as it wasn’t plowed. And the city has the nerve to fine people? They should be looking at the half-assed job they are doing and perhaps we should fine them!
metro transit is responsible for the shelters and according to the cbc they have 72 hrs. to clean it up
That sidewalk plow/snowblower they use in Dartmouth doesn’t work for shit. Leaves behind a mess of treads.
