Sicko!
I just read in the paper about some digusting asshole who castrated a seven week old kitten with a pair of scissors. That kitten ended up dying 4 days later. Who are these people? A grown man mutilated a tiny, defenceless kitten. I think it would fit

You must be one of those people who gets all your news from The Daily Show with John Stewart. You obviously don’t follow local news. This story was all over the news and in the papers no less than 4 months ago, and ran for weeks. Also, If you look in the Coast archives, you will see that this subject has already been bitched about in the May 11th issue. All that said…sure, the guy is a piece of shit and I agree with the punishment you propose for him.
Well said! It would seem only a select few of us have been raised with any manners.
didn’t your mother ever tell you ‘2 wrongs don’t make a right’?ps, karma doesn’t work that way
To mwh,What the hell is your suggestion then? Slap him with the measley standard fines that people get and maybe 6 months community service for what he did to that helpless animal? I am not even an animal activist per se, nor vegetarian, etc but if I saw someone do that to an animal, damn right I’ll slowly slice his/her genitals away then feed them to the person. Sometimes people need hard, sick lessons to understand what they’ve done.
I agree wholeheartedly. My wife and I are proud “door holder openers” and our 10 year old son is now as well. Watching people walk through when I hold a door without saying a word is one thing but not saying a word to my 10 year old is infuriating. The maritimes is supposed to be known for its friendliness and politeness. I think our reputation is slipping. A few more years and we’ll be living in the high stress screw you attitude of Ontario. Time to wake up people!
the reputation is an illusion
I agree with Former Ontario Guy… we ARE supposed to be known for our friendliness and politeness… and it’s truly maddening when people don’t even acknowledge a held door, but strikingly more so when the person whose gesture has been ignored is a child. I’m afraid that I’ve gotten a little snarky about this… when someone swans through a door that I’ve held for them and doesn’t even look at me, I say, in a nice, clear voice, “Oh, you’re welcome!” Polite and friendly – and yet, an unmistakeable reminder that when someone does something nice, it’s equally nice to acknowledge it..

hahaha…other areas in the Maritimes may be known for their friendliness…but not Halifax. This place drives me bananas. People in Halifax can be just as rude, inconsiderate and self-involved as people from Western Canada. Halifax just seems to be in such a rush all of the time, its sad.
Slow Down! Have you ever been outsaide the city. Its so slow here I fall asleep walking, and Im from here. Sorry we are not slow enough for you. Maybe you should go back into your coma where you belong.
for all of those people who are so polite…where are you. everyday i go to work with my better half and we can nothing but marvel at this attitude that seems to be developing more and more. we come from a Hospitality background and have it ingrained in us to be polite. however there are days that i would just love to kick that person who is standing in MY way- who turns and looks at me as if to say “get out of my way, I am more important”. I just shake my in dismay at the jerks who cut us off in the intersection and flip US off, or the people you let go who make the point to ignore you…just a wave of thank you that’s all you have to do!!! oh well, i guess I’m just cranky today- my tim hortons server barely acknowledged me and yet probably still expected a tip!!! and coming from our background we gave it!
You have to master the art of “open door holding”. The trick is to open it, with yourself on the inside part, that way you are being poilit and holding it open for the person following you through. That way you cant get caught standing there. Its an art. (hehe)
Ive been in Edmonton for 2 months now and have not had a single door opened for me yet. Its little shit like that, that makes me miss Halifax, and hate Deadmonton.
I agree with Doors Wide Shut comment, because I was born and raised in N.S. and have great manners. However, now I’m in Ottawa and it’s a nice city, but pretty rude. People don’t even look at one another, let alone stop to hold a door. I could go on! Sigh. Let’s face it: there are mannerless jerks in every town, city, and especially the bigger ones. Even if you hold a door for a stranger and don’t get a thanks…just know that you’re the better person in the end.
There’s no doubt about it. People in Hfx are polite and considerate and definately friendly. I wish I could say the same about the young, female, drivers on the roads in town. They are way beyond agressive and not too competent to boot. It seems the prevailing attitude from them on the road is: “you’re not getting in front of me!” Male drivers of the same age group are just as polite behind the wheel as they are walking. Of course this is a generalization, but I’ve noticed the trend.
so who would castrate you for castrting him?history has proven that violence begets violence, it just doesn’t worki suggest examining this persons psychological state and prescribing the appropriate rehabilitation so he can learn that that type of behaviour is not desirable, he may react positively, humans are adaptable, they can change how do you figure he would repond to being castrated?
