it’s all on their web site, and in the fucking booklet. or do you not know how to read? for the last couple years on here, the news, papers and word of mouth, you had to hear this someplace. unless of course you just got back from a 100 year trip to mars or some other fucking planet. these women thought that they were owed the ride and bitched the driver out, why didn’t they just get the fuck off, and make all the other people on that bus’s day. no, they just had be entitled and fuck everyone else. and they do this at least 3 times a week it was said of the group. hope they have other transport for the next time they go to their court ordered parents classes.
I believe that someone(who knows them) posted on the CH website that not all mothers were bound for the same ultimate destination and that some of them could have waited in a shelter(because it was *gasp* raining) for another bus that followed a similar route. The only reason for them all to board the same bus was to continue with their own version of “The View” for the benefit of all passengers not lucky enough to be carrying a pair of carpenter’s awls. Perhaps the driver could have done a better job of explaining this to them, but from what I’ve seen, both on the news and in the flesh, logic and reason, not mention common courtesy and common sense, would have fallen on pretty arid ground with this crew.
being a trashy welfare mom with 4 kids and a huge sense of self entitlement should be a crime. If you are using public transportation to move your spawn around the town, try to have the decency to cause the least impact to those around you.
i.e. taking screaming colicky babies to a nice restaurant and then wondering why people are upset that their expensive dining experience is being ruined.

Umm, for like forever it’s been against their policy to have open strollers on the bus. When I was growing up, and kids didn’t ride around in SUVs but NORMAL strollers, you had to collapse them. it’s nothing new. People nowadays think the world is all about them and that everyone owes them a free ride. i wish Metro Transit had some balls and BANNED them for life.

You already get free bus fare and (I think) even air/rail fare for infants and small children. Seven strollers on a bus is a safety hazard if they’re all crammed up in the front.
The driver simply asked them to either fold up their shit or have some move to the back of the bus and they refused because as ivan pointed out they wanted to continue socializing with each other.
He was simply doing his job of making sure that all passengers were safe and could get on and off the bus safely, which is far more important than the social lives of a bunch of welfare whores.
No I just mean the phrase. It seem redundant, but meh that’s all semantics.

I think this is the first time I have EVER supported a Metro Transit driver whenever there’s been an incident that’s made the news, or whenever I’ve seen or been involved in disputes with drivers in my own personal life.
This driver was doing his job. They are actually lenient, technically they are not allowed but they will let 2 strollers on without making you fold it.
They do that because they understand it’s tough being a mom, we all have one, they play an important role in civilization and the whole bit. It’s not like we all have no compassion for how difficult it is being a mom. But these particular moms abused the kindness that many people go out of their way to extend to mothers, particularly those with young children. I hate people who do that. Don’t EVER take advantage of kindness. It’s just a shitty thing to do.

side b is that metro transit does provide a less than adequate service to its users. Buses that don’t run often enough, buses that do not cover transit to certain areas of the city adequately, and buses that are too small for the amount of people that use particular routes.

I would have had sympathy for the moms if they didn’t outright lie to the Horrid. The driver asked them to move them back and said nothing about folding them as they claimed. Also, had this happened farther from the Horrid’s office than just down the street, they’d have never bothered.
The real culprit wasn’t driver or moms, but the distinct lack of solid policy about number of strollers or whether the seats can be folded up, or other things. I await a proper definition of this because there will be a repeat otherwise.

I was on one of those artic busses last week and there’s no WAY you could fit more than two strollers at the front. Actually, I don’t see how you could fit more than four on one of those busses the way they’re set up now.
RTC busses in quebec, any TTC bus or street car I’ve been on in toronto (and subway cars are wide enough and long enough to accommodate strollers) and some octranspo busses in ottawa have one seat on one side of the busses in the front to accommodate strollers and for more room for people to pack onto the bus and stand and they don’t have issues with strollers because they’re set up to accommodate them. MT busses simply are not. They COULD flip up the accessible seating, but whenever they ARE flipped up with disabled persons in wheelchairs, the driver has to make sure they’re properly strapped in so they don’t go flying… in ottawa, I remember drivers weren’t required to strap in any chairs so their policies are likely different.
There hasn’t been a decent policy regarding strollers on MT busses… likely ever, PDG. My mom used to take me on the bus in a little umbrella stroller when I was a matter of months old and most of the time shit was cool, but there was one time where the driver actually came to the back of the bus to scream at her. That was when the mumford terminal was down by the old sears where winners is now. He went and got a supervisor and the supervisor told him he was crazy for harassing a woman with a baby when she was clearly at the back of the bus and out of the way.
Problem *is* people with strollers feel they have the same privilege as those needing accessible seating, which, they are clearly not. I’ve seen people with crutches, seniors with walkers and other older people who are clearly impaired mobility-wise get on the bus and the people with strollers refuse to move so they can sit down. In ottawa, a mother with baby in a stroller was told they’d have to get off the bus because a person in a wheelchair needed the spot they were parked in on the bus and there was no other room for them and they went crying to the media about it.
Accessible seating isn’t for parents with strollers — they’re for people with disabilities or have a hard time getting around. A LOT of people with strollers and kids who take the bus understand this and are great with making sure their strollers don’t impede anyone from getting around them, but it’s the little state-sanctioned whores like these who seem to think the world owes them something.
THese are the types of whores that need their asses kicked to knock some of that skanky sense of entitlement out of them. And maybe a swift kick in their uteruses will render them infertile and solve the problem of mo’ unnecessary babies who are products of whore-o-ry.
As usual, welfare moms show NO common sense. No wonder they think squirting out babies is a career choice. What crackhead bitch thinks it’s a good idea for her and 5 or 6 friends to all have their unfolded strollers on a bus?
I’ll be the first one to admit that a baby is likely safer in their stroller with the breaks on than otherwise, but SEVEN strollers on a fucking bus is IMPOSSIBLE.
Look at it this way: the MOST you can have on the highest capacity bus for wheelchairs is three, I believe. Does that mean that if four people in wheelchairs are at the same stop will get on the same bus? Of course it doesn’t!

I wish they could just ban strollers on the bus to avoid things like this, but then imagine the uproar! I think a little while ago, a mother tried to get on the bus with a double-wide stroller with her twins on a busy route and was denied access and she filed a human rights complaint because she happened to not be white and felt that’s why she was denied access so like, I don’t even want to think about what would happen if they just flat out denied all strollers. The whole leniency of the rules was in place so that if let’s say 4 mothers got on a bus on a dead route at like 11pm at night, it would be allowed because there wasn’t anyone on the bus anyway and likely not too many would get on, BUT noooo, they all want consistency which would mean an all out ban? OKAY. Just for future reference, if you don’t believe in abortion and are selfish enough to not give your kid up for adoption so it can have a good life, then don’t have sex. Just fucking don’t.

Used to drive a bus for MT, I quit cause of the constrant stream of bullshit. People are unreasonable and even though safety regulations are said to be left to your discretion, they never really are. Supervisors always back the public, you dont need to pay, you can bring as many strollers as you want, you can even let your twat brood coast back and forth on rollerblades (my route, #17). Just kick up enough stink, you’ll get your way.
Being constantly shit on in your dangerous work site (safety hazard’s, plus verbal physical abuse as you drive a moving vehicle) makes you jumpy and neurotic.
Let alone keeping your cool while you wait for one of those Transit mediator goons to come as some piece of trash hurls abuse at you cause you fear for your job if you even sneeze at them. 20 minutes later, they show up, wag their finger and tell you to let them have their way.
Some can cope. Others cant, we quit quickly.
The problem being MT’s too afraid of controversy, that it never backs its employees. Those Moms should and could have easily been banned from transit services, it would have sent a strong message.
