  1. Gloria wants to make PEI part of Dartmouth. Then we will take that over and soon H^L^F^X will take over the entire world! (evil laugh)

  2. This is an excellent bitch, rendered in good sub-literate Sheet Harbour “patois.” (That’s French for “patois.”)

  3. What do you mean? We’re a North Korea except blue… that makes perfect sense!! And “HRM great leap backwards and show its not the Joe or Jane its the $$$$$$ for their election campaign” It’s like my eyes have been opened for the first time with how much sense it made… like it just “clicked” Although on POF I tried dated a girl who said she was from Halifax… turned out.. ba dum tisssss! Sheet Harbour…. the first date never happened.. I was confused as all hell until i saw this!!

  4. Sorry OB but all of Nova Scotia is the HRM…where do you think 80% of your provincial tax funds come from? HURRR DURRR

  5. That’s what happens when you take cursive writing out of school. That logo should have earned the designer a flogging with a giant bottle of Mazola oil.
Upside down ‘V’s are not friggin’ ‘A’s. Stolen straight from the Samsung logo.

  6. An interesting comment in respect to the role of cursive writing in school and its deleterious effects on the student. As it happens I’ve just finished re-reading Andrew Nikiforuk’s “School’s Out: The Catastrophe in Public Education and What We Can Do About It” (1993), in many ways a reactionary caricature of progressive student-centered education but where he’s on track with his emphasis on learning as the cultivation of both character and mind. Here he is on literacy and writing.

“Advanced thinking, in addition to having flouted the alphabet – eschewing the struggle of sounding things out may have freed children’s spirits and given bohemian reign to self-expression, but it has not created people who read books and cherish the power of the word – has also thwarted the teaching of writing. Although the old ‘hammer the grammar’ school produced dubious results, progressives have merely replaced one poor method with another: writing by doing. To the progressive educator, writing is as natural as reading, which is as natural as walking, and having the students write about anything but themselves would be highly unnatural. Many schools have reduced writing to the keeping of personal journals in which students ‘discover’ themselves or ‘explore a subject.’ Directed mostly to an audience of peers, and full of ‘invented spelling,’ these journals are rarely corrected. One of the gurus of the ‘natural process mode’ notes, ‘”Writing is learning by doing and sharing it with real audiences, not by studying and applying abstract rhetorical principles in exercises which the teacher alone will read and judge.'”

Maybe the bitch’s author attended a progressive school in which writing was learned by doing and spelling was “invented” by way of “exploring himself.”

  7. The first sentence should read: “An interesting comment in respect to the role of cursive writing and the deleterious effects on the student when it is taken out of the school.” Damn.

  8. They told me at the HRM office in DARTMOUTH, I lived in East Hants county.
That my road was not in the HRM & they couldn’t take my property tax payments …I asked how that was possible, when my deed said it was in Halifax County (or was when I bought it) & that was now HRM.
That I had always been registered & voted in the District 1 of HRM (aka Halifax County).

So I contacted the Councillor for my area , in the HRM ….seems I am in no mans land, right on the HRM – East Hants dividing line . BUT they did fix whatever the snafu was & i pay my property taxes to the wonderful people at HRM ..

    Was the sarcasm dripping ?
    I hope so.

  10. Why are you telling the OB to shut up in the voice of the pelican in “Finding Nemo?” Did you enjoy “Finding Nemo?” Did you find the voice of the pelican added to your enjoyment? Do you read? Do you think? Write back soon.
