You have officially come to a down time low.
You expect to get public support and now you are blocking plows from leaving their depot? They are not doing scab work, they are doing their work.
Shame, shame, shame on all of you for endangering the lives of our family, friends and co-workers.
I only hope no one gets seriously hurt because roads are not plowed or salted and a timely manner.
You should all be ashamed of yourselves; I hope they lock you all out and hire hardworking people who value a good wage and benefits and replace you all. —Disgusted

I believe the union has lost the concept of picketing. I mean with their bonfires, plywood camps, chairs and satellite dish (Burnside).
OB…fyi they are trying to take away benefits , cut their OT & take a good paying job & turn it into a minimum wage job !
You don’t seem to mind that the managers are now paid more than double the drivers ( & there is now a manager/supervisor for every 7-8 drivers)… but like most people all you can see is drivers & haven’t got a clue about anything else.
But I do agree , stopping the plows from access , unrestricted access, is outside their mandate & is probably illegal.
But there is some language out there somewhere about anyone crossing a picket line may be delayed,,,, But I agree that don’t seem right.
WTF!!!! Are you smoking crack More? Minimum wage job!!! Holy shit, you are fucked!!
I wasn’t aware the transit drivers were responsible for plowing the streets and plow drivers are now “scabs”. Drive the fucking plow through the picket line. Get the fuck out of the way and stop putting lives at risk douchebags.
More, sometimes you come across as a brainwashed union ass, and that has to be the dumbest statement yet. lol. Turning a 24 dollar/h job into minimum wage by cutting needless overtime and giving them a raise on their hourly rate, yeah, that’ll put them in the foodbank lines.
Naturally, the province’s reined in by a union-loving government who refuses to address the issue for fear of stepping on well-shod toes of the any union. If DD had any conjones, he’d call an emergency debate on this issue when the House resumes in late March and legislate these bastards as an ‘essential service’ Today’s tactics of these union pudpullers wanted our public attention – they got it alright and none of it good.
I don’t know where the fuck everyone is from, but perhaps it has not escaped people’s notice that for some years now the city has done a truly shitty job of plowing streets. As in, often not plowing at all, or plowing late, or not salting, or…you get the idea.
So delaying plows on one occasion is now suddenly a life-threatening act? Jesus. And the city not plowing at all, on *numerous* occasions, isn’t? Get a grip, idiots.
As for the suggestion by the OB that ATU members could be replaced by hardworking people who value a good wage and benefits. OK, let’s accept the “hardworking” bit. But it’s naive in the extreme to think that replacement workers would be getting the same compensation as the people they replace. Butts and his boys would be cranking the screws in this case. I expect the OB believes that part-timers at grocery stores make a living wage too.
The only people supporting these assholes are more union assholes.
I was thinking the same thing Realist…
it would seem they usually spend the first couple hours idling the trucks and sipping tims anyways.
If they can’t clear the roads any better because ‘it’s just the weather we’re having’ then delaying them 15 minutes doesn’t really mean shit in the long run.
you’ll be pleased to know one of the city Councillors went off the road yesterday morning. Nobody was injured or killed, everyone’s fine but now they’re trying to determine whether this could have been avoided if this shit and terror hadn’t happened.
You guy’s obviously do not pay attention to the Union busting techniques being done inthe US & look at Greece.
Once they get a roll back it never stops & the race to the bottom begins. You don’t have to take my word for it, there are sites all over the internet with info on how State & National Governments have made major cuts to Unionized workers (while retaining their own conditions and rates of course)
But seeing you are not in a Union you don’t pay attention to what is happening elsewhere, unlike you Union members do.
The only people busting this union is the union with their stunts. First the Access-A-Busses, now the plows. The union has successfully gotten the public completely pissed off with them. Wilson makes Kelly look like Einstein and I thought I would never say anything remotely like that.
So exactly why do divers need overtime? $24+/hr not good enough for them? I say if shifts come up, then those with the least enough hours go first or hire part timers and save the city, re taxpayers, some money.
