This is a love and a bitch…

First the love: To the one walking woman who stopped to ask if I was okay on the trail on Saturday when I was having a major nose bleed. Your kindness is what I think of when I think about Nova Scotian’s being kind and caring.

Now the Bitch: To the 6 arses who walked/run/biked past me without asking or showing concern because it’s not your problem. Would you have only stopped if I was passed out?

I wouldn’t have just passed you by. All of us who use those trail’s should be looking out for each other because one day it could be you out there and you wouldn’t want people just passing you by.

  1. Fuck off ya bleeding cunt, I would not have noticed YOU on the trail or the blood on your nose (however the fuck that happened) and unless you fell across my path with an arrow in your back I would keep rolling along enjoying my day totally unaware of your existence.

  2. not just on the trails, anywhere. if you see someone in distress, hurt. stop! try to help. why not?

  3. Most nosebleeds aren’t serious. Were you covered in blood and/or in obvious severe distress? if not I probably wouldn’t stop either. Guess I’m an asshole 🙂

  4. you know, I loathe the human race as a whole. I believe we should be eradicated. all of us. including me. we are not a valuable species except as food, and we have pretty much armoured ourselves against all our predators. so that leaves us contributing nothing. zippola to the system.

however, as an individual meeting other individuals, I couldn’t pass by without asking if they need help. I don’t know if I could provide any reason or logic behind that. i just know I do it. would anyone who says they most likely would NOT stop be able to say why? is it fear of disease? confrontation? ambush? what goes into the decision?

  5. really? Just be happy someone stopped.. no one HAS to stop and see if your okay.. I you need someone to hold your hand then find a running partner and get over yourself.

  6. Probably no one noticed op. They may have thought you were blowing your nose unless you made a big dramatic out of it. Which… You seem like the type to. You’re sort of attention-seeking , aren’t you?

  7. A Nose Bleed FFS, that’s what you get when you get your schnoz caught in buddy’s zipper as you’re dogging on the trail.

  8. Ob, did you lose your ability to speak or gesture for help? If you did not ask for help then why are you bitching?

  9. Great Value, my point exactly. We are not put on earth to read the minds of every stranger we encounter. Nosebleeds suck and are annoying. But very rarely are they life threatening. Only if it looks like your liver is coming out of your nose do you have reason to worry. And even then, the real worry is only that you’ll have to get your nose cauterized. Which sucks so many balls..

I’m sorry op. But a nosebleed doesn’t constitute a medical emergency. It’s more of a medical annoyance. At absolute worst.

I was in Arizona in August. Arizona (as suggested by its name) is dry and hot. I had constant chapped lips and nosebleeds. Did i panic and expect people to rush to my aid? No. I carried tissues and bitched to my travel partner when they hit.

Nobody is paying so much attention to you and only you that a nosebleed is even APPARENT. Again, someone holding a tissue to their nose at this time of year is par for the cold/allergy season course.

If you’re prone to them, I have three suggestions.

    1. Carry tissues.
    2. See a doctor to make sure you haven’t burst a blood vessel.
    3. Calm down. It’s a NOSEBLEED. Not a stroke.

  10. whether or not you think that op is a whiny-baby, he does say ‘major’ nosebleed and it did spur one woman to stop and ask if he was ok. so one can safely assume it was noticeable, and profuse.

it doesn’t have to be life threatening to need a helping hand or at least a ‘hey, you ok man?’
hell, if someone dropped their walking stick would it hurt to pick it up for them?

and as for someone not even noticing, it’s self preservation that should encourage everyone to notice everything about their surrounding (esp other humans) . if you don’t notice blood splattering out of someone’s face you certainly wouldn’t notice the chloroform soaked rag he was hauling out to knock you out, and thence to cutting you up into teeny pieces in his moms basement. you know.

  11. Your consciousness and lack of asking for help would have detered me from even offering assistance. I don’t want to catch your aids either OB.

  12. I might have asked you if you were okay. But if you’re a grown adult with no handicaps or no signs of trauma, and I have nothing practical to offer, such as a kleenex or hankie, I’d likely leave you to your business and carry on with mine.

  13. Wow. I’m more shocked by some of the asshole responses then the fact that no one stopped. If someone looks like they need help then you should at least offer assistance. Kodak you discuss me! I’m ashamed you’re even part of the human race with a response like that.

  14. If i was jogging (for some reason) and came down with a nose bleed, I’d be too embarrassed and would hope nobody would stop to see if I was okay… unless I was on the verge of passing out or something. That would be my frame of mind if I came across someone else with a bleeding nose. It’s not because I’m an inconsiderate asshole but because I’m being considerate. My thought process might be out of whack but that’s how I think when I put myself in other people’s shoes.

    You’re welcome.

  15. I can see none of you trained as first responders. What would you do if you happened upon a situation where someone’s life depended upon your response? What if it was you who was incapacitated and dependent upon a stranger’s knowledge and willingness to help? First aid instruction should be mandatory, not left to chance. The life that gets saved could be your own. Or a loved one. Or someone else’s loved one. First aid should be taught in schools.

  16. @themax, I think the same way…about MYSELF and would most likely try to hide the blood/broken bone/leaking brains.

but for anyone else, think about someone you care about. whether its a nosebleed (who knows how serious it could be?) or a mangled limb, if prompt attention could have saved their life/sanity/composure, wouldn’t it drive you crazy to think that someone saw and kept going? if someone I cared for had their life blood seep out while others passed by, I would be beside myself.
