I’m getting really fucking sick of these giant grocery stores dicking around with grocery bags. “It’s Green!™” they say. “That’s bullshit!” I say. The only green they see is that which lines the pockets of their shareholders as profit margins inch ever so higher. These stores are using the environment as an excuse to gouge consumers and cause them great inconvenience.
As soon as I figure out how to pick up my dog’s shit, I’m going to leave it on their doorstep…

Of course it’s inconvenient, most recylcing is. Sorthing through my trash trying to remember what goes where is pretty inconvenient too. It would be a lot easier for me just to throw it all in the same pile. It is easier to get 10 plastic bags each trip to the grocery store too, but it would be worse for the environment if they all ended up in the landfill. At least in NS we recycle plastic bags. They don’t everywhere else, which is why companies decided to capitalize on the current enviro-fads and make reusable bags for you to buy…If you CHOOSE to. So, if you don’t want to buy the reusable bags, save your money and recycle your plastic ones.
I heard they were going to get rid of the plastics ones altogether, I heard this second hand though so I am not 100% on it. It seems silly to get rid of them when we recycle them anyway. Anyone know if the plastic bag news is true?
I just saw a CBC documentary on plastic bags the other night:http://www.cbc.ca/doczone/battleofthebag/video.htmlDon't know if plastic is on its way out in NS, but Ontario, which does not recycle plastic bags, is considering it.
lady if i stepped in your dog’s shit i’d leave it on your door step!! if you can’t take care your animals don’t have them
If you read yesterday’s Herald there is an article on the front page. Some Halifax grocery stores will stop using plastic bags as of the end of Feb.
As far as dog shit and plastic bags go, if it’s only the grocery stores fazing them out, there’s lots of other businesses that will continue using them. Either use them or buy a box of kitchen catchers. In regard to the grocery stores, I like Mile’s suggestion of reusing the old ones. The Superstore Green Bags are pretty small.
I say give the patrons a break and lets see reductions in the price of fruit, veggies and organic food instead of the mega stores lining their pockets with the savings from no longer using plastic bags… The price of eating healthy is just rediculous!!! In addition to saving the environment, let’s save on health care…
Green. Most plastic in N.S.is not recycleable. If this goverment could do something about all the shit dollar stores and their ,China,Korean, bangladesh,etc…100% non recycleable,150 year breakdown.IF you cannot recycle it.Keep it out of our country.
