Why, oh why do people that walk into movie theatres simply leave their brain and manners at the door!?

Yes, I am talking to you, the person who walks up to the concession counter and asks me if this is where you get your popcorn. Are you fucking serious? Popcorn is popping right behind me!

To the kids that pay 10 bucks for a ticket and proceed to come out 15 times to use the washroom, buy skittles, play games in the zone, with the sole purpose of pissing me off – FUCK OFF AND STAY AT HOME!

To the parents who call bitching at me because their kids were supposed to be watching a movie and didn’t come out to the car. 1) I am not a fucking babysitter. 2) Your kids are clearly shit and are off some place else, the sooner you realize this and stop blaming people who are not responsible for raising them the better.

To the assholes that will watch an entire movie and then have the fucking audacity to come out at the end of the movie and complain about it – I’m not a fucking mind reader I cannot fix a problem unless you point it out to me. So no, I will not give you a fucking pass!

To the parents that want to bring their kids to the 14A and up movies and they are not of legal age – I will be an asshole and make you prove your kids’ ages as you are clearly lying. And as a side note, it’s the fucking law, talk to any developmental specialist and they will tell you that you are a shit parent for letting your kids watch this and the law is in place to ensure that someone tries to protect your kids from shit their minds are not ready for. I don’t give a FUCK if they have seen worse things before, the fact that you are even saying this speaks volumes to your parenting skills!

To the rest of you who leave all your shit in the movie theatre after your movie – I hope that one day I can come to your place of work and dump popcorn and nachos everywhere and make you clean that shit up! I’m aware that it’s our job to tidy up between shows, but you are holding up the next group from getting in – pick up your fucking garbage and show some decency.

Show up 20 mins minimum before a movie, do not bitch about lines, if it’s busy I can do nothing about it – I’m not capable of creating more staff out of seasoning packets to serve your ass! Also, it’s not my fault that a movie sells out, don’t be so shocked and appalled either, as if I did this on purpose!

Finally stop fucking complaining about the costs of everything, I am not the fucking CEO, I cannot reduce the costs for you. I get paid minimum wage, so if anyone should see any of this money, it is me, as I have to put up with your shit on daily basis! —Tired of the Empire of Dumbass Movie Goers

  1. Most people start out with crap jobs like you have. It is part of the process of giving you motivation to stay in school, get educated and get a real job.

    You’re welcome.

  2. In this type of job you will deal with all kinds of people with different levels of mantality….learn to deal with it.

  3. Soo.. I thought that if your parents are with you you can
go to any movie you want, except NC-17.

If some theater worker tried to tell me what I should or shouldn’t let my child watch, I’d let them have it.

    That’s strike one

“To the kids that pay 10 bucks for a ticket and proceed to come out 15 times to use the washroom, buy skittles, play games in the zone, with the sole purpose of pissing me off – FUCK OFF AND STAY AT HOME! “

That’s a big swing and a miss for strike 2. I’ll buy as many damn packs of skittles as I want and at the price per unit I expect service with a smile.

“Yes, I am talking to you, the person who walks up to the concession counter and asks me if this is where you get your popcorn. Are you fucking serious? Popcorn is popping right behind me! “

I call that a strike, you can argue it if you like, a simple yes would suffice. That person has probably spent 15 minutes in the pretzel line only to be told that they were in the wrong line. You work there, therefore you know how it works. The rest of us don’t get out to the movies all that often so if we have questions we expect a polite and accurate answer.

I’m gonna go write a bitch about people who hate their jobs but complain about them instead of trying to find a new one, or just accepting that not too many people get paid to have a great time.

You filled out the application OP, don’t get mad at me.

  4. o.p., i really feel for you,and yes, you are 100 percent right in everything you wrote about. most parents shouldn’t have kids, and those that do, should be better prepared to take care of their own, not you. the theatre didn’t hire you as a babysitter, or price adjuster, just do your job, look at them and say, what can i do about your problem. i’m just a flunky, get paid scab wages, and have no control of anything, beyond where i’m standing right now.
yeah, i know it’s real touch to clean pig shit up, and that is what it is, shit left over from fucking pigs. you really have to wonder, what their homes look like inside? the higher pajob, it seems the worse slob they are. and we won’t even go there about some women. having done a cleaning job for a number of years, i have seen it all, every fucking gory thing that you can imagine, right down to shitty tampex. who shoves a tampon up their ass anyway?

  5. Eh, my parents let me watch R movies when I was little and I turned out relatively ok and my parents are actually kinda really awesome.

    *shrug*

And I thought the same thing as Tommy — I thought the 14A meant that they couldn’t get in by themselves under 14…. maybe that’s why they’re pissed off?

  6. I clearly remember, too, going to restricted movies with my parents when i was well below 18, and I went to moves rated A when I was a little kid….

  7. kitty,is that why you grew to be a perv. just kidding girl. i used to watch all kinds of shit too. anyone here remember,” fritz the cat.”that horny little black kitty that was all dope smfucking everything he could. fuck, i loved that movie, there was no piddling ratings system then.erotic kids and adults bitching about what their kids hear. look at the fucking t.v. sometime then parents. and by the way, i want a rainbow vibrator for sebastard.

  8. Fritz The Cat is an awesome movie lol. I wasn’t born when it was released but I watched it. Funny and socially conscious picture.

  9. I’m a huge R. Crumb fan – loved Fritz, Mr. Natural, Schuman the Human, et al. I’m still waiting for the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers stop-action movie – it’s been on the roll for about 10 years now. Damn stoners!

As for you, OP, I suggest you get into the funeral business. I think you could handle dead bodies and wailing far better than a bunch of kids and their idiot parents. Plus there’s more perks. Wink-wink.

  10. Yes today’s Cineplexes, truly ‘Lands of Lost Manners and Decent Social Behavior’ – coming soon to a cinema near you in 3D yet. As if manners are still to be found anywhere these days. However, OP sounds as if you have a few issues up your wazoo as well. As do we all at times, especially if working with/for the public.

  11. The reality is, if you’re working a job that involves dealing with the general public you’re going to meet all kinds. Sure there are the rude ones, but there are great ones out there too. You gotta take the good and the bad, and learn to take the bad with a grain of salt.

Suck it up. We’ve all had (or have) crap jobs along this road of life. If you really don’t like your job spruce up your CV and start looking for a new one.

  12. Two things,

the A in 14A stand for “A”ccompanied by a legal guardian. This rule ( not a law ) also goes for 18A movies as well. As long as its not a NC 17, if mommy or daddy are with you, the kid gets in.

As per my last point, that whole rating system of 14a, 18, or PG13 is a self imposed guideline not an actual law. It would be against policy to let a 12 year old in to see the hangover two if they were alone, but it would no be in violation of any law that I know about.

You might be confusing our system with that of the USA.

  13. The only beef I’m really on board with is the part where people don’t clean up after the movie. That would be annoying and a number of those that do don’t stash their trash properly either.
That said, there are only two things I look for when going to a movie, decent popcorn and relative quiet from the people around me. I get those two things, I have a successful movie-going experience and am happy.

  14. A valid bitch.

One’s job may involve serving the public, but as anyone who deals with the public knows, a large portion of the public either leave their brains at home in a cupboard or never had any to begin with.

It’s a free country. You can act like an imbecile when you’re out and about and still get a modicum of respect from workers in service industries, but don’t expect much more. After all, you’re acting like an imbecile.

A movie rated 18A in Nova Scotia can be seen by those under 18 when accompanied by an adult, but under no circumstances can anyone under 14 see this movie accompanied or not. Call it a policy if you don’t want to call it a law, but it’s pretty straightforward.

    http://www.gov.ns.ca/lae/agd/film/ratinggu…

A family member used to work in this industry and yes, some parents would scream and yell that they should be able to drop off 12 year old Timmy and Tammy to see a 14A movie but I don’t see the point of arguing with the person selling tickets. Movie theatre staff can’t alter ‘policy’ on the spot to suit customers’ social plans.

People who throw their trash on the floor, in movie theatres or elsewhere, are just lazy slobs. I can’t imagine defending this behaviour by claiming that it creates jobs for janitors or some such. Throw your stuff on the floor – you’re a lazy slob. Own it.

  15. OMG Esposito “One’s job may involve serving the public, but as anyone who deals with the public knows, a large portion of the public either leave their brains at home in a cupboard or never had any to begin with.” AIN’T THAT THE TRUTH!

I deal with the public daily and I. SWEAR. TO. GOD. some days I just want to die. Literally.

    Ugh.

  16. what did you expect when you applied there? Don’t work in the service industry if you hate it. Farm, or stock shelves at the grocery store. I’m sure some 16 yr old who would love if your job became available.

  17. Empire was the first and funnest job I ever had. Sure, it had it’s typical share of the dreadful ~GENERAL PUBLIC~ but YOU GET UNLIMITED FREE MOVIES. Midnight openings are the worst for trash cleanup but working days at the slow ol park lane was nothing to bitch about.

  18. I went to see Event Horizon when I was 15 or so with my grandmother and I turned out….
ok,… maybe they’re on to something.
(it was interesting to say the least. American Psycho was by far the most uncomfortable to watch with granny dearest)

I do remember fighting with them to get into Mortal Kombat and eventually had to have some stranger say he was taking me in with him…
the rules are quite a bit more lax now I do believe.

  19. Ooooh you wanna talk about awkward movies to see with a granny? For one Christmas my brother got me Superbad on DVD and I was so excited to watch it again, I put it in right then and there while the family was all there… I completely forgot just how bad it was but the Granster was cracking up ;D

  20. Try watching ‘Children of the Corn’ at 7 …

I was never afraid of anything again.

    Heh.

  21. OMG!!! The theater one of my first jobs and I swear every time I see a show I leave a tip at the counter because I totally understand the shit you guys have to deal with! So unfair!!

Ps- Life will get better, promise:)

  22. I agree that it is only good manners etc, to pick up your trash and look at the menu before finally arrive at the front of the line. If people didn’t leave their garbage behind or need your help, you wouldn’t have a job!
You were hired to carry out these tasks.

  23. I think I might know the OP of this bitch, but I’m not entirely sure.

  24. yeah, when Bale told the girl to start eating the other’s asshole…
grannies face cringed and she apparently didn’t want to bother with the rest of that twisted mindfuck of a movie.

  25. If the bedbugs don’t get you the talkers, shufflers, candy junkies, and (apparently) incontinent ‘guests’ will. Let’s hear it for ‘Netflix’.

  26. There is no “NC 17” rating in Canada…people are getting confused between the US system and Canada’s. The provincial governments of Canada view every new movie/video we see before it can be shown to the public legally (or sold to the public) . They classify it according to that provinces standards for content etc. The maritime provinces rate movies collectively. The department that classifies them here is the department of alcohol and gaming. The ratings are: G, PG, 14A, 18A, R, A….and yes theaters and video stores are legally required to enforce the age limitations.
