I suspect I speak for many people who work on, live near or frequent the Spring Garden Road area when I say I’m pretty tired of being accosted, solicited, panhandled, surveyed, and protested to. Why not try preaching or begging in a few places where people might be a little less compassion fatigued? Why don’t any of you Binder Hippies go to Spryfield or Tantallon or Cole Harbour? Is there some reason why you can’t hold a protest in Bedford or Enfield even a few blocks away on Gottigen Street? Go enlighten Eastern Passage or North Preston. GO AWAY! —I Really Just Don’t Care Any More

  1. Fuck, OP, I just plug my iPod on, jack up the audio and weave my way through that shit. They all fade away to the melody of Babyshambles’ ‘Fuck Forever’.

  2. Exactly, TTFN. Also, they choose SGR, Barrington, etc. because they’re areas with a lot of foot traffic.

  3. I got no problem with the Binder Hippies (LOL ” I wish I had said that James.” You will Oscar, you will”) They are always polite and the gels pretty easy on the glims. As far as the bums go, I’d round up the able bodied ones under 40 and send them out to one of those urban Charlie Zones where capitalism has failed the disenfranchised proletariat to the extent that they no longer possess the skills or economic opportunity to pick up the garbage that litters every subsidized lawn, bus stop and public green space. Let the panhandlers keep the cans and bottles they find and pay them off fast food chain gift certificates and transit tickets.

  4. I haven’t been on SGR in years….my last memory of that street is going to the moustache to see Maclean & Maclean perform.I sometimes cross it up where Robie goes through…but I think it changes names around there ?!?!?

  5. lol @ slut walk, I seen that on the news a week or 2 ago.. I really don’t know what to say about that.

  6. Two things:

First of all, Mr. More, I haven’t heard mention of Maclean & Maclean in decades. I loved those guys back in the 70s.

Second, Ivan I think you’re becoming more like me every day – rounding people up and sending them off to do useful community work. Maoist!

  7. Perhaps they could have a triple-header; Critical Mass Scum meets Slut Walkers against the Juggaloos – although the bint in the clip has a fair pair of juggaloos.

Ivan has some great ideas re the filth – now that Steve has 167 let’s see some hard right laws – hangings, floggings, stocks at pizza corner, welfare CANCELLED, city housing BULLDOZED, council reduced to 7

  8. Like I said Comandante…I can’t remember exectly how long ago its been, I just know its been awhile !
I remember going to see them on the Darkside at Crickets when it was at Woodlawn mall…quite awhile ago as well.

  9. Crickets! haha. Oh my. Memories of snowfall and other white powdery metaphors come to mind, lol

  10. OP, awesome. I totally agree. Those panhandlers are just worthless leeches of society. They don’t deserve a penny from anyone. People stupid enough to give them money deserve to be kicked into the street.

  11. o.p., panhandlers are a part of sgr, just like hookers on hollis st.,the city wouldn’t be the same without either. although, i’m certainly willing to check it out.

  12. Why good Lawd are we still talking about this?

Y’all can beat a dead horse, cook it and stuff it and serve it for left oevers, that;s for sure!

  13. I wasn’t aware that Hollis was a hot spot for hookers. Why wasn’t I copied on this memo? I’ve been down there at night and never seen one.

  14. They cleaned out all of the whores in the late 80’s early 90’s to make room for all of the blue haired condo-ers.

  15. The only place in HRM I know of where ladies of the night tend to work is Windmill Road in Dartmouth, I know because I lived there for a couple years and one of my best friends has also lived there his whole life. I seen one out last night in the rain, although she looked pretty good to be a prostitute, she was probably a cop. Most of em look like exactly what they are.. crackheads. Just for everyone’s info I’ve never been a John

  16. thanks for the disclaimer young thomas. i have seen them at the fireside but perhaps they were just *escorts*

  17. Hollis is the old skool hooker place. No more whores, apparently.

Also, tommy, i don’t mean to pick but this drives me nuts: it’s “I saw” not “I seen.”

    kthx.

  18. hay hay hay now ms kitty, it drives me round the twist as well but i l would presume he made a mistake *hopefully*

  19. I’ve developed a task force on bad grammar and use of proper speech. It’s kinda like a crime fighting team.

However, I’m also doped up on contac c from the awful awful plague that’s invaded my body so the only thing I can really conjure up today is foolishness.

I.e.: I’m not responsible for anything I say this evening.

*cry* I feel like I’m dying, guys 🙁

  20. Maybe I’m not paying enough attention but I don’t see hookers on Hollis and I live around there.

  21. Two people have already stated, sodeypop: hookers used to troll hollis back in the day (pre 90s). They don’t tend to hang out there anymore.

    Learn to read, dude. 😉

  22. yeah, i guess hollis is out now, they just hang around the hotels now. and sometimes, in back of purdys wharf. right karen, if you read this. there are some that used to stroll over on windsor too, but al live in now, and do business as quick as possible outside their own place.

  23. What fucking protests is OP talking about?
I’m on this street almost daily and never see a fucking protest march…

    That’d make things too interesting… And awesome…

Prolly a Fascist working for Harper who wrote this…

You know he is connected to Heritage Front.

  24. i remember you. the fact that he thinks the earth is thousands of years old bothers me more…”there are fossils”

  25. Hay Painey – How’s your Saturday going? Bitchers gonna need a new place for Sunday summits >: (. Seems like last week’s “inventory” was a prelude to a closeout. Oh noes!

  26. yes, i was in contact with the summit leader^^today was exemplary tho no dawgs. we are having dutch/indonesian rijsttafel for our sunday celebration

  27. OH I HATE YOU!^^^. Just joshin’ – that sounds deee-lightful. Might be boiling some big red bugs on the morrow.

  28. hahaha…i remember the first time my sis-in-law had lobbies, i looked through her eyes and all i saw was a giant red cockroach. my pa’s mother, she would eat every bit of it

  29. I’ve been told that to watch me field strip a homard down to it’s component parts is equal parts terrifying and awe-inspring. As long as it’s digestible; I’m eating it.
How elaborate is your rijstaffel going to be?

  30. during one of our stays in ottawa, we lived next to a dutch family. me ma has this dog-eared, oily little book that contains the recipes. it’s a family affair. pork satays with peanut sauce would make you go all caveman uncle vanya

  31. Laerrus: I think ‘Binder Hippies’ is a shot at the people working for Doctors Without Borders.

  32. Good morning Mrs Pain! Happy Mothers Day! Hope you have a great day! And Happy Mothers Day to all the other mom bitchers on here!

  33. Happy Mothers day… to all of you who are.
and even to all of you females who aren’t…because its possible someday you could be ~;)

  34. That was awesome ivan! Happy mothers day to you too then. (Shut yo mouth)
