Dear Haligonians/New Students, please, please, please do your fellow passengers on the bus a favour and find a route schedule, invest in a cellphone or check the schedule online. Just do something other than wait until the bus is LEAVING the stop/terminal before you start doing the funky chicken in an attempt to get the driver to stop.
I know it’s probably a shock to a lot of you, but Metro Transit DOES have a schedule that they have to adhere to as best as possible.
Having to load the bus, pull away from the curb… only to have to stop again to pick you up doesn’t do anything to help keep that schedule. As a matter of fact, it tends to make a bus load of people late because you don’t give a damn.
You actually deserve to be left behind, flailing like a seizing chicken as the bus continues on its way.
Actually, I encourage everyone out there that agrees with me to speak up and yell at the driver to KEEP GOING or at the very least, give the idiot hell when they finally haul themselves onto the bus. Shame and embarrassment work wonders.
I will be kind though and offer some “insider” information that I have gleaned over the years to pass along to everyone in hopes that it helps even ONE person; the buses are considered to be “on time” if they are between 3 minutes late and 3 minutes early. That’s pretty basic math here, but for those of you that can’t figure it out, for example, if the bus is supposed to be there at 10:00am, that means you should be STANDING AT THE STOP – and not sauntering towards it like a jackass – at least by 9:57am, if not sooner.
So, do your fellow bus riders a huge favour – pick up those feet and put some effort into it! —Time’s-a-ticking

Don’t forget about those fucking non-humans, sneaking on and overcrowding our buses….. fuckers think they’re people.

Obviously you have never taken the 80 Sackville into town. Ever. Chump. Their sked is an ever changing mirage. A shadow. Smoke. Formless. Fucked up. You are an ass.
In the same thought, you should be planning for such delays as it is public transit.
Ahhhh the good ol’ 80 bus……transporting everyday fools back to the 80’s………and unfortunately taking them into the city too……there oughta be a law against this!
Op, if you are the person that writes all of the bus bitches, I think you seriously have issues.
Then there are those drivers that sit for eons at a terminal but start to take off just as other buses arrive, usually with many people needing to transfer from them to that bus. Not so much a schedule thing there – just playing god.
Cry me a Halifax harbor, build a McDonald Bridge, and get the hell over it OP.
you clearly don’t have kids, pets, illness, disability, sticky locks, traffic lights in your neighbourhood or anything else that makes life happen not exactly the way you expect it. A million little things can cause the smallest delay but when that happens, and there is ONE bus an hour going where you need to go, shit has a way of happening.
The next time you find yourself in this exact situation and the driver is nice enough to wait, i want you to wave him on, lest you are a hypocrite.
And if you DO take advantage of that moment of kindness, i want you, once you have reached your destination, to go to the nearest bathroom, look yourself in the mirror and slap yourself. Hard.
OB, maybe they are not doing the funky chicken…..maybe they got shot, or woke up to find the SleepWatcher in their room and ran out in a panic. Maybe they are just a physically retarded gimp.
Another one about metro transit. *sigh*. What do people expect from public transit? Too much by the sounds of it. If it was perfect then we have to pay a retarded amount of bus fare to use it. Its cheaper than driving so don’t complain. If your driving Op then you have a right to complain sometimes anyway.
I’m pretty sure the drivers are under enough pressure to keep to their schedules without some crazy dude in the back yelling “KEEP GOING” (do you often go to people’s places of work and scream at them for no good reason??). I’ve seen plenty of buses leave behind people that tried to get on a little too late. If they do stop to let someone on, I have to assume it’s because they think they can afford that extra time.
