Instead of ripping and tearing out the 6 or 10 feet of the #7 highway with big machinery and 6 men (THIS IS A HUGE MESS AND LOOKS AWFUL BY THE WAY) how about getting out of your trucks and doing some silva culture instead. Tearing out mature birch and maple trees is not my idea of the DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. How about making our province look prettier and preserve what we have instead of mutilating it! Oh, and by the way, I am not a tree hugger in the least, I would just like to see a nice highway on the way instead of a mess. I know that we need to remove some of the trees for sight clearance but REALLY. And readers, I will be making a call to Dept of Natural Resources. —Disgusted

Its to improve sightlines so people can drive their cars faster. Fuck beautification. Next thing yer gonna cruise the american mile…
There’s a shortage of trees in Canada? They need to improve the number 7 so the Cadillac Escalades can evade the cops that much faster as they head out of town.
that would involve using common sense, and we know most levals of government, clearly have none. with that being said, i’ll be off ine for a few days. doing some much needed and deserved recreational things.
and no, there are not any female bodies involved guys, but it is a nice thought, to work up a sweat, after working up a sweat. fact is, i’m going 4 wheeling. gonna destroy some places that have already been fuck up and over, by the big logger trucks and shit.
be nice to each other, and if not that, have the pics of the bloody body parts for me, when i return.
It is all pioneer species trees they are mowing down, more like white birch and alders – stuff grows like weeds. The ways were originally cleared when they installed the highway/powerline. Last year they did the road shoulders, the work you are referencing this year is by NS Power to keep the power lines clear. You do like your power yea? If you want to complain, complain about new highway/road construction through virgin forest, not about existing right-of-way maintenance.
Clearing the growth along the sides of the highway…makes it easier to find the idiots who’ve gone off the road.
So in effect saving us money searching for a small hole through alders, next to all the other small holes from all the previous idiots who’ve gone off the road.
I remember 2 years ago when we had that over night ice storm & from Elmsdale to the miller lake off ramp ther were 17 cars/suv’s in the ditch on their sides or roof !
I drove by all those as well as those driving at 20kms an hour, because It seems I was one of the few with real winter tires (not 3 season tires the liars call ‘all season’) that were studded… no slipping & sliding for me.
IF the small trees were allowed to stay in place… the Searchers would have been really busy that day ~;)
