I recently went into a walk in clinic that happens to be one of the busiest locations in HRM. I was just going to get a prescription filled so I went in feeling pretty healthy. As I sat there, I looked around me at people looking like death, but mostly sick children coughing and sneezing, walking around to get the books from the wall, playing with the toys, NOT covering their mouths, just spreading their germs. Obviously I know that it’s a doctor’s office and that there will be sick people but I think parents should teach their kids to cough and sneeze appropriately by covering their faces with their inner elbows. But, I know how kids are, some may know better but they don’t realize that they are spreading their sicknesses. Where my problem lies, is that this being one of the busiest locations for walk ins there was no hand sanitizer. Sick people coming in and out full of sickness and no where for me to sanitize myself. Guess what, now I am sick. —TLC Me

Cold and flus are viral, not bacterial. Even if there was sanitizer, it would do sweet fuck all for cold and flu germs floating around.
You don’t need hand sanitizer to sanitize yourself. I’m sure the clinic had a bathroom so why didn’t you wash your hands and then open the knob with a clean tissue around your hand? And yes, parents should teach their kids to cover their mouths when sneezing or coughing but that is only one way of spreading germs. And it takes time for a child to learn…especially a baby or young toddler
Exactly, PK!
go slap your mom for letting you grow up in a bubble….
germs are everywhere and unavoidable. had you been exposed over the years, you should be able to deal with the majority of them.
and if you catch ebola… well nothing matters at that point anyways.
There are many places to get germs, not just the doctor’s office. Money, banks cards, shopping carts, door handles, keypads for ATM’s/debit machines, touch screens etc. Diligence in handwashing is no guarantee you still won’t get sick. Unless someone has respiratory illnesses that can be complicated by colds or flu, the doctor’s office and/or emergency room is not the place to be. The majority of flu and cold cases are not potentially fatal and should just stay home to recuperate instead of spreading their contagion. As someone who has been struck down more than once this season with nasty cold viruses I can feel the frustration TLC Me.
what can i say o.p., a doctor’s office, or clinic is the place to go when sick. not when you feel fine. now that is out of the way, to the meat of your bitch, about sneezng ad shit. yes i do agree that ou should not blow your snot/germs all over the join. and the same about touching shit, with your germy fucking paws.
i personally went to a clinic tp pick up a script, for a friend, and was appalled, at what i saw. needless to say, in less than 3 days, i was sick as fuck. i hate going to see doctors, for that reason. if i’m not on my last leg, fuck it, i’ll stay away.the same when i used to work for others, they go in sick, infect everyone else, then the whole outfit has to shut down.WHEN SICK, STAY THE FUCK HOME, AWAY FROM OTHERS.
Agree with LS, they’re called sick days for a reason. Someone at my job got me sick as a dog on Christmas.. I wanted to choke her out.. who the fuck comes to work sick a day before Christmas? We are all capable of working from home in my office.
tomorrow is world naked gardening day^^that sounds like a lotta bad naked
Hand sanitizers are making wienies out of people. Fuck accrding to the wimps of today, anyone over 40 should be dead because when we were kids we played in dirt and mud all day, sweated, had fun, and didn’t give a fuck. Also how many people over 40 were ever allergic to peanut butter when they were kids. We would have starved in the lunch room at school.
It is in my case paingirlsis…hahaha! With a capital B!
Hoe, Hoe, Hoe. ^^^^
teehee, certainly beats naked bike riding…ew, put that away
The best thing is to wash your hands and don’t think too much about it. The people working at the doctor’s office aren’t sick 80% of the time and I’m sure if they could, they’d steal a line from TTFN about hand sanitizer and shoving it somewhere.
IF I worried about shit like that…I’d probably never leave the house…its like being concerned that as an adult you have approximately 1000 trillion bacteria, protozoa & fungi in our digestive systems (almost 10 times as many of them as there are human cells in the entire body)
Then there’s the little crawly things on our skin, these mites, fungi & bacteria that are there all the time & even when you are fresh from the shower, your still covered in them ! (around 7 billion or so on each of us)
Any of you feeling itchy ????
I don’t let it get me down ~;)
that’s cool microscopic shit, i won’t post any pictures. too many spleeny people out there
walk-in clinic=welfare mothers=sickly germ infested chilluns..
I’ve noticed more media reports blaming things like household cleaners and hand sanitizers for the increase in antibiotic resistant strains of germs.
The contribution of these items to this problem is minimal. The real culprit has been known for decades. The widespread over-prescribing of antibiotics by doctors is the main reason for the prevalence of “superbugs”. Another contributing factor is the routine heavy dosing of livestock with antibiotics to increase growth rates.
This has been a known risk for decades but has been ignored by the parties responsible. The chickens have come home to roost.
Hand sanitizers contributed very little to this problem but it is a handy diversion that makes it easy to blame regular folks.
i agree mr. farmer, some countries recommend not giving children antibiotics for ear infections, which are very common
As for previous comments about sanitizers not killing viruses.
YOU (as usual) are wrong !

My ex wife’s in administration at a local hospital. They definately have the cleaners necessary to kill germs, bacteria & VIRUSES.
Although, to be fair a virus isn’t actually alive.
Handsanitisers do ‘kill’ viruses.

THis is just one example, that is non-alcoholic.
paingirlie, guess what i’m gonna use as a plough, to do my field.
“The widespread over-prescribing of antibiotics by doctors is the main reason for the prevalence of “superbugs”” not to mention how ppl don’t follow their dosage requirements!!!!
well sucksters, i don’t think you have to worry about burning mr. happy^^
OP, stick to your family doctor. Those walk-in clinics attract the unhealthiest of the human species.
Getting a family Doctor is difficult in this city, and when its only for a simple prescription it seems much easier to go to the closest location, but you are right Sebastian, getting a family Doctor is a good idea.
As for the comment about me washing my hands at the clinic. I washed them as soon as I got home because of the situation, the washroom is behind the clerk desk. I suppose I could have asked but I didn’t see the point as I had to go back through the waiting room and touch the handles of the doors.
and for PK : here is a link to inform you of spreading bacteria etc
http://www.cdc.gov/germstopper/home_work_s…
I did take medical administration and worked at a Hospital here in the city, and we are educated on how NOT to spread germs and bacteria. It should be standard that every clinic has hand sanitizers available. You can’t walk around a corner at the hospital without seeing one, and there are reasons for it. I don’t believe people should use it willy nilly, but at clinics I think it should be a MUST.
My fav Dr. office story, true too.
Took my neighbour to her Doctor, 9PM emergency. I’m waiting when a couple bring in their kid. I’d say 4yrs old. The kid has diapers on, and decides to have a big, noisy, wet dump in the middle of the waiting room. Guess what – they didn’t bring any extra diapers, Mum said to leave him with the poopy-bum because the Doctor was used to that sort of thing. So Dad boots it down to the Drug Store and gets a bag of disposables. Then he proceeds to change the boy, guess where? You’re right – in the waiting room. I moved to the other side of the room, and the stench still made me gag.
I’m sure it was bad enough, but I can only imagine what it would have been like if the Doctor had got it at point blank range.
Yo suckers: our family doc’s (we have the same one, remember?) only in two days a week now, so it’s not like you’d be able to get an appointment anyway. heh.
I haven’t seen her in two months and I’m on a bi-weekly doc appt schedule atm and have had to see the other docs in the practice, and my mom hasn’t been able to get in within a 5 week time frame! *sigh*
