Thought it would be fun to take part in the 5 km run last weekend, but the registration fee was $65. Event management, did you not get any sponsors to offset the cost? Small towns and big cities alike find ways to make these runs affordable for all, why can’t you? —Ran in the Park for Free Instead

  1. Next time do the 42 and get your money’s worth.

In case you didn’t figure it out, you’re paying for the infrastructure of a 42km event, not paying by the KM, dipshit.

  2. I paid. And I pay for events everywhere… it wasn’t really that much more expensive, and when you consider all of the things that go along with it (outside of what you get at your neighbourhood run), what’s the big deal? It’s being chip timed (and your results are on the stats site), you get food, entertainment, lots of water stations along the route, the sense of being a part of a huge event, the medal, all that jazz.

If you want to run in the woods, run in the woods. If you want to compete in an event it costs. You’re comparing apples to oranges.

  3. if you pay that much to run, then bubby, have i got a fucking bridge deal for those that did pay that out.

  4. ha ha, zing! There’s always more to the story. Day-of registration usually costs more, duh.

  5. If your not interested in buying the bridge I have a line on some lovely property out here….we need to survey it by boat right now, or if you perfer hip waders, or wait until winter & we can then take a walk around .

$65.00 to go for a run, I know I constantly see people who run on asphault & concrete , & obviously don’t have a clue anyway…but I didn’t realise the level of mental illness involved could also be a great cash cow ! ! !

  6. $65 to run! LOL. They saw you coming a mile away, or a kilometer. Run for free like everyone else.

  7. But but but…if you can’t run against other people and judge yourself amongst the masses it doesn’t count!
