Apparently, a “runner” won the Halifax marathon. Says so right on the cover of todays Daily News.
Sweet fuck, is this the industry that kids are spending thousands of dollars at King’s to be a part of?

They probably have to specify that it was a ‘runner’ who won, because from what I saw (sitting in traffic for an hour watching the idiots go by) about 75% of the people in the marathon WEREN”T RUNNING!
LOL! Now you know how much they get paid ;~)
My favorites, are the World Weekly news headlines…”500 Elvis clones living on Mars!” Some of them are so hilarious I start chuckling in the grocery checkout..sadly if it is really good, I will burst out laughing, much to the chagrin of most around me. I’m sorry, but if you are gonna declare in large bold font, that a 120 year old Italian peasant woman gives birth to quadruplets, I will lose it in public..everytime 🙂 …Especially with the really bad accompanying photo-“chopped” images LOL! Gotta love it! Makes the Inquirer look legit /:~)
Well, there was the 5K walk/run….some of those walkers were walking for charities too.
hmmm, no mention of her using steroid juiced bees in the back of her trousers to get her to haul ass to the line…
otherwise, I think it would have said “sprinter” wins marathon in record time.
Nevermind, I wouldn’t be so quick to call people idiots when you are the one sitting in traffic in your car for an hour. You know why (according to you) 75% of people were walking? Because running 21.1k or 42.2k is HARD. Many of us who run in this event do it to challenge ourselves. If someone needs to take a walk break don’t hark on them for it. You are sitting in a car, after all.
I hate to point out the obvious but….didn’t the Daily News go bust? LOL
Yahyah I know.
Pshh, own’d.
daily news, or whatever replaced it. sheesh.
Can we just re-establish that any student at King’s is wasting their money. Look across the courtyard, a real school!
But what if the much maligned editor…and yes, it is the editors who come up with the headlines, and edit the copy, happens to have a journalism degree from U of T? They are too cool to run there, they jog, hence the suprise? jez sayin’.
But seriously folks, Google as I may…and I may…I could not find a single body of text containing “Runner wins marathon” *sigh * and I searched the news wires as well…am I blind? or was it a paper only publication? The reason I ask, is because I love to send hilarious journalistic obviations to friends who also collect these gems 🙂 If someone finds it please post it!
I saw that too, but if you read the whole tagline, it said “Runner Wins Marathon for Record 4th Time”. Yes, using the guy’s name would have been better, but it still narrows it down to one person.
Oh shit. Well thats not blooper worthy. Just standard headline stuff. No wonder it wouldn’t show. If the person is not realy well know, they will always head it with “Runner” or “Skater”, “Rower” etc. It is a journalism thing. Then in the main body they will identify the subject It would be different if the was someone immediately recognizable…”Obama wins marathon for 4th straight time” makes perfect sense.
you’re right, yorkke, King’s doesn’t have a good reputation or well-known programs….oh wait.
