I am not the only one who is fed up with my once favorite diner because of what must be a change in management. Generally speaking, it’s not good to keep your customers waiting 40 minutes for a milkshake or their food, especially when it’s not crowded; it’s probably best to turn down the bar music if it’s lunchtime and more than one customer has complained; and most importantly, part of the manager’s job is to actually speak to customers in a polite and friendly manner. Guess what? you may be a hip diner, but this ain’t NYC, so you lose the attitude!

I noticed some of the managers/employees of some (not all) of the pubs in Halifax think they’re working at a hip establishement in NYC so they can ‘get away’ with having an attitude. One time, a couple years ago, i was at a certain pub/bar/diner/whatever. The server asked me what I wanted to drink, so I said “I’ll have a ‘blank'”. The server blantantly says, “No, you won’t. We don’t have those. We have ‘blank’, ‘blank’, and ‘blank’…”Was there really a reason to say it like that??? How the fuck was I supposed to know they didn’t have that type of drink? There was no listings of drinks anywhere, and if my memory is serving me right, I ordered a fairly common drink, so I don’t even know why they didn’t have them in the first place. I dunno, either the server was having a bad day, or management encourages them to act like that because they are in such a ‘hip’ environment!I have to be polite to my customers at where I work, so I should be treated with respect when I’M the customer!
