You cut me off in the rotary on your Ebike and had I not braked, you would be dead. This resulted in me getting rear ended, then you drove away! WTF! Now because of you my insurance is going to sky rocket to the point where I won’t be able to drive my truck which I need to make a living. —Former Truck Driver

you are not at fault if you are rear ended.
Actually, INFY’s right.
And how many accidents HAVE you had, that you were at fault for, OP? One accident isn’t going to put your insurance up so high you won’t be able to pay it… but 2-3 might.
Still, I don’t see how you’re at fault here — did you call the cops or did the person behind you just SAY you were at fault? Rear ended = not yo’ fault.
You were rear ended…..the insurers will find that the person in the rear is the one at fault, not you.
HIS/HER insurance should go up, not your’s. If this is your first accident and your insurance company cranks up what you pay them, its time to find a new insurance company.
As a scooter driver myself, the supper hour run down Quinpool to the rotary is a disaster. I’m hoping you ain’t one of the left hand lane drivers who cut to the centre at the rotary without a signal like its a right-of-way!
you should have just kept going o.p., now you pay. yep, sounds about right for a clown on a bike. most of them take no fucking responsibility for anything, other than getting where they want to go, and fuck you, who inteferes in them getting there.
too many times have i saw this almost happen. once i saw some dude get a punch in the mouth because he darted out, and slammed on his brakes, to let a cyclist go by. buddy punching got good as he gave tho, and the biker, yep, he just kept going too.
It is not automatically the rear driver’s fault in a rear end accident. It will depend on the circumstances. I rearended someone but they pulled into the roadway too early and was found at fault.
Likely because they were entering the flow of traffic. If OP stopped and then was hit, I’m thinking the person behind them should’ve been a safe enough distance behind them to be able to stop.
I dunno, it just seems fishy that OP wouldn’t be able to drive their truck anymore because their insurance was going up unless there were prior accidents… and it really surprises me that they’re getting hit with being at fault.
Let me guess, she was driving in the direction of the Herring Cove Rd? That woman is a menace on two wheels. I have watched her cut off two vehicles with that dinky electric scooter over the last couple of weeks and impede traffic by traveling at a rate of speed half that of the posted speed limit on an almost daily basis. She’s a terrible driver and a serious safety hazard to herself and others.
Rear ended and you’re worried about insurance rates? You’re leaving out details OP. Oh, and if anyone gets cut off by the scooter lady, get as many details as you can and report it. I’ll bet you wouldn’t be the only one.
You run into the back of another car your at fault regardless of what they did in front of you, I can’t see how you would be liable, I would be making sure your insurance gets the truth, if it was that bad the police should have been called.
S&W, you are wrong. Not only have I investigated the odd (it doesn’t happen often) accident but was in one myself. Usually they are people entering the roadway too early but there are others. Never make a blanket statement.
Exactly. If you’re the one entering the flow of traffic you’re pretty much always on the hook.
Next time, don’t brake for the bike.
