Roadkill
To the drivers coming through the intersection at Bell, South Park and Sackville like bats out of hell—did you notice those white lines on the road? The ones between which people are trying to walk? You’re not really supposed to accelerate AT the pedestr

Drivers in Halifax are horrible. I’m a driver and I see how bad the others are around here, but at the same time… get off your high fucking horse. Wasting a lot less fossil fuels? Actually, but you walking across and forcing a car to sit idle, you are directly contributing to the excess consumption of fossil fuels, but we’re splitting hairs here. There’s a lot of pedestrians around that are just as much arseholes as the drivers. How about of u shits jwalking when there’s a cross walk 20 feet up the street?
I recently attended someone hit on a bicycle on Bayers Road by an inattentive driver. He was on the sidewalk and was struck hard enough to be forced into the roadway with his bike under the vehicle. The attending officer’s lack of concern while chatting and laughing with neighbourhood acquaintenances pretty much sets the tone of how this town reacts to driver issue. The cause was failing to look against traffic direction for pedestrians. Had it been a child or stroller injury would have potentially been fatal. Working insurance, the assignment of fault is not with the police department, they enforce traffic code. Insurance companies assign fault and hopefully the individual concerned has the sense to file a PIP or personal injury personal property claim. A lawyer would not be such a bad idea. I have a pretty good law firm on retainer, and consequently walk Halifax knowing without reservation that my lawyer is better than any underinsured motorist can possibly afford.
A lawyer on retainer is not a bad idea. For me, I take the cheap route: I carry around big sharp rocks with me, whatever I can carry comfortably with me on my walks about town. When somebody tries to hit me or is too busy talking on their cellphone to notice that me and my six year old son are trying to cross the street… Then they get an irregularly shaped present through their windshield. My best suggestion is to start suggestively shaking the rock right off the bat before you get right up to the intersection. This lets the “driver” know you are serious and that you are “ready to rock” unless they can play their part. Oh, this also works good for hitting the driver over the head as well, if they decide to get out and try to beat you up for attempting to cross the street. Best of luck David!
