Dear HRM, I walk to work. It’s a ways, maybe 40 minutes, but I like it. In this climate, though, our most typical weather scenario isn’t deep snow (thanks, parking ban) but temperatures just around the freezing mark. Which means a thin layer of ice. On everything. I don’t care if it’s salt or kitty litter or what, but could you guys put something down so that those of us trying to save carbon emissions don’t wind up in traction? —My boot treads are only an inch high

well o.p., if you like it so much, why the hell are you bitching then? seems to me, with winter, you get snow and ice. if you want clear sidewalks and shit, there is always a shovel ready for you somewhere. til you can understand how weather works, i suggest you close your eyes, and run into a brick wall headfirst. then maybe you will understand how stupid your bitch sounds.
OP, purchase a pair of shoes with ice-grip. Canadian Tire sells them, so does MEC. Otherwise, enjoy your time on your ass.
My street never gets plowed or salted properly and we live on a steep hill.
it’s not that bad…yet. i wonder if those ice-grips would work on thick sheer ice. perhaps with a sharper spike. i remember when i took the bus, walking up our street and sliding back. finally i managed to get to the grassy areas and clung to trees all the way to the bus stop…and i didn’t fall once, it was a miracle^^^
Again, wherever I go, there’s way too much salt.
hey, how’s my favourite nerd boy?
Hope you had a Merry Christmas Brendon. Mornin’ Painey
Things are rather well in my little corner of the world. Christmas was good, had some…interesting…moments.

Well on Sunday I went to a gathering of some of the extended family on my mother’s side of the family and when we went to leave, our car wouldn’t start. Boosting it didn’t work, so we called Dad (who was at least 45 mins away) and he came up and was able to provide a temporary fix. Then later that night we got hit with a big storm which knocked out power for like 16.5 hours. :S
mornin’ all! Hope everyone had/is having a wonderful holiday with family and friends!!
I got lots of new running duds for christmas – but I’ve been too fat and lazy to test out the sidewalks in my neck of the woods… maybe this afternoon 🙂
