So putting a bunch of mannequins in strange positions in a vacant lot is supposed to be art? It seems more like littering to me. And to think the money spent on this could have gone to something like charity or to feed hungry people. And this is just asking for drunk ass holes to hop the fence and fall to their deaths… this is not going to be a good thing. Besides the implications of people being able to hide in there and play dead…. creepy… the lot should be properly decommissioned and turned into a green space, with maybe some sculpture in it… not a fenced off wasteland for some plastic mannequins to rot in, and eventually pollute the ground water… —Gross Vacant Lot with Gross Looking Retail Art

  1. they’re gonna turn it into something eventually…
    I don’t see the harm.
it looked like shit before… still does now.
    who cares?
I HOPE the drunk tards do that shit.
    darwin rules.

  2. *Insert beetnik rhythm track*

It’s ok to not understand, man
You don’t have to be a fan
    We’re just being profound, man
    and doing what we can
    to implement our plan, man.

Lyrics by Stan the Man in the tan van man!!

This is why NSCAD is in financial ruin, man.

  3. It’s called Pro Bono charity work OP. That’s Latin for “Creating Awareness” is a much sweeter gig than actually doing good for people.

  4. It’s their money OP, not yours. You didn’t earn it so you have no say what they do with it. And so what if some monkey in a tapout shirt falls in the hole? It would be a present to the rest of Halifax.

  5. Oh die off already OP! Are you seriously pissed off over this? I think a green space would attract more dumbasses and crackheads than a fenced area. Do everyone a favour and never leave your house again.

  6. Kind of a shame to let a good mannequin rot away, though… When I taught history, I had a mannequin that we dressed up in the relevant era’s garb. Over the years, she wore everything from animal skins to togas to colonial homespun.

  7. NSCAD’s latest projectile vomit on display. The whole mannequin thing has been done to fucking death since the 60s.

  8. I think it was creative. As well it brings attention to what a hole they have made in the city and left it in a disturbing mess. They really could clean up the area a little better before the construction begins. I like what the artists did and I support NSCAD and I hope they can work out their financial problems and put new people in charge of the money.

  9. OB, that is the kind of shit NSCAD produces. No wonder they are basically bankrupt. Who’d hire someone who makes shit like that? Where the hell did he get all those mannequins? I bet he has names for each and every one of them. NSCAD probably sets them up in class and pretend they are students aiming for an arts degree.

  10. yeah o.p., it is sposed to be art. but which one? i saw a charles, henry, robert and gregory, but no art. anyway, these idiots probly got a guvment grant too.

  11. It looked like a massacre happened there. They remind me of dead bodies, many missing limbs. :-S
    Halifax explosion?

  12. I saw the picture too. Real nice clothes on those mannequins. Another great way to spend the city’s dollars! Those clothes could have been donated to Dress for Success or something and the money could have been better spent on some sods of grass and flower to pretty up the area in spring time. This “Art” sucks!!!
