First, welcome to Canada. Congrats on choosing to move to our great country and celebrate our nation’s birthday. BUT you should learn that you cannot claim to have reserved a 12 foot by 12 foot section of the downtown Halifax boardwalk for your family of four at 8pm and then start lecturing people who start gathering nearby for the fireworks to sit down. Telling us to “Sit down. My children want see first Canada Day firework” and “You rude. My family no see. You sit now.” Who the fuck do you think you are? Everyone around you was rolling their eyes and then just began ignoring you. Even after the fireworks started you continued babbling in some foreign language and pushing people so your kids could get a better view. Unless Immigration forgot to tell you, leave your rudeness at the border, or purchase a one-way ticket. —Proud Canadian

From a non-immigrant Canadian: Fuck off, OP!
There are plenty of rude Canadians so I think they’ll fit right in. I don’t like the tone of this bitch; as if their behavior is made worse by the fact they’re foreign!
And what IS a Canadian? We’re all foreign, except the Natives! Quiff!!
Are reservations available on the boardwalk? I doubt they were lying about being promised a certain square footage for thneir family; either rental space is available or some asshole took them for a ride.
Oh OP I wish you could make your point without being annoying.
Z is completely correct about the tone of your post. Perhaps the people you talking about were ignorant … but you seem not so cheerful yourself …
What’s this? Rude foreigners?

THEY TUK UR JAAAAABZ!
the cartoonish pidgin isn’t fooling anyone, you’re that same xenophobic fuck as before making up more anti-immigrant drivel aren’t you.
“quiff” haven’t heard that in many moons
It sounds to me like a bunch of rude Canadians ruined this recent arrival’s first Canada Day.
My pet peeve at Canada Day crowd scenes? Those idiots who show up at an outdoor venue with big folding Canada Day chairs and big old Canada Day hats and plunk their drunk asses down in front of a COUPLE OF HUNDRED other Canadians sitting on the grass behind them, effectively blocking their view of whatever is happening on the stage.
Little known fact: Canadians don’t need lessons on how to be rude.
Dim Sum anyone?
wlyb♥
I think this is a legit bitch, and the OP probably would have been just as peeved it it was a white Canadian dude. Many cultural norms are perceived as rude by us. I’ve traveled to a few countries and I have had to adapt to their ways for fear of being seen as rude. People should do the same when they come here. I understand it takes time. I get this vibe from you guys that his being foreign somehow should give him a pass.
I agree with you OP, and if that guy would have laid a hand on me or tried to push me out of the way, I would have humiliated him and possibly knocked him out right in front of his kids.
I don’t think we should let people push us around regardless of where they are from. He’s lucky no one chin checked him. I would have said something to him for sure.
I don’t like how people say “we’re all immigrants”… uhh, no I’m not, I was born in Canada. My ancestors came here as immigrants, not I.
… reread Zs argument tj, then re-arm your troops.
but o.p., they came here to buy this country, so therfore, they do own that piece of sidewalk. how many immagrants do you know, that have not succeeded in getting a business going, and keeping it open, when a lot of others are closing down.
don’t get all pissy at me for that. it is a fact, all you have to do, is look around you. how many restaurants, pizza joints, and quikie mart type plaes are there. best of luck to those that do come here, open a business and make it work. they employ about a third of any city’s people, plus their own family.
well said suckulous
I agree with the point of this bitch, but it just as easily could’ve been some asshole ‘naturally born’ citizen being a dickhead. If you had’ve framed it in a “everyone shares the public space on the boardwalk to see the fireworks so suck it up asshole” kinda way, you’d get a lot more sympathy. It doesn’t matter if they’re immigrants or not — they were being rude annoying self-centered fucks. I’m short and I often get eclipsed by taller people at concerts and events much like kids will and you don’t hear/see me being a dick about it. Also: if fireworks are up in the air… wouldn’t that generally mean that it wouldn’t matter so much where you were sitting/standing? And if it did, I’m sure the taller people wouldn’t mind moving for the kids so they could see the fireworks… I’ve had tons of taller people offer to let me go in front of them when they realized my short ass was behind them.
“Unless Immigration forgot to tell you, leave your rudeness at the border, or purchase a one-way ticket.”
The first part is just too deliciously ironic. The second part makes no sense; it’s obvious they had a one-way ticket when they moved here. Fucking foreigners of all colours and haterisms.
OP, did they set up shop to sell cheap Canada Day wares? “Made in China”
Introduce them to that traditional Welcome to Canada punch to the Gullet, and knee to the goolies.
How can you not see fireworks? Just look up.
I read before I post Donk. Unlike some of you. Basically my argument is the same. He says he shouldn’t be treated differently because he’s an immigrant. I agree. I think if he would have been a Canadian citizen people might have been harder on him, honestly.
i could hoist you up on my shoulders ms kitty^^i even try to squinch down in movie seats

Who says he isn’t a Canadian citizen? Yeah ’cause it’s not hard enough being an immigrant. Not sure who makes you believe these people are coddled …
The guy being foreign has aboslutely no bearing on this post, none. So why bring it up op. That’s what Z is talking about, the tone of the post makes it so that I can no longer focus on the point at hand (even though “the immigrant” was wrong) and automatically dismiss whatever they’re trying to say. Furthermore quoting the person in the same broken english, reeks of moron. If OP was trying to make a point about how other culture’s norms may be perceived as rude by Canadians (as you were) then I would have hoped that they would have enough cognitive function to say that and not come off idiotic. OP may not have come out and punched the person or even verbally assaulted them, but they DID come here and write some tripe which to me is worse … ’cause ignorant waters run deep. The whole post is framed in a “you’re here, you must submit, be quiet, toe the line, know your place” attitude. If you’re not noticing that Mr. then you’re blind … or don’t want to see. Señor Naïvité.
I won’t even bother addressing the “Unlike some of you.” comment but I would be giving you the *gurrrrl plz side eye* if this was real life.
y’all were being idiots… the lot of you.
OP, the OP’s nemesis… the family… the crowd of eye-rollers…
fuck fireworks. I was trying to sleep…
luckily I have the ever-trusted yet apparently well kept secret of earplugs to get my shut eye while people mask the gunshots.
