Honestly, how many times do I have to hear “HEY, NICE UNIFORM WANNA-BE PIG!”? I work a job just like everyone else. Private Security may not be a 100k a year job, but it pays my bills and I am not ashamed of what I do. Sometimes, yeah I feel conflicted if I catch someone drinking on my property, because I like drinking myself, but on-duty, my job is to keep people from doing what is not permitted on the property.
The stereotype may be true with SOME guards; some sleep, some come late/leave early, or some don’t show up at all. I, myself have never missed a shift, never called in sick, and have never been late. I never sleep on the job, and I am respectful and courteous beyond belief, even though some people don’t even deserve that.
I don’t give two shits’ if you’ve seen Mall Cop or Armed and Dangerous. I am a professional at what I do, and I’ve worked in some pretty sketchy locations; as soon as I turned legal age to be a Guard, I was placed on Gottingen street, just feet from the square, with no training, no measures for self-defense, not even a cell phone… And you know what happened? Nothing, because I respected people, and never got into business that wasn’t mine.
So this bitch is to all you idiots who criticize me because I work in Private Security. I wouldn’t laugh or hurl insults at you because you’re a male nurse, or a goddamn garbageman, so why hate on Private Security? Don’t let the few mis-trained/ignorant guards set the standards for the professionals in the business. —Had Enough of Haters

lol shit.. weird that people would take it upon themselves to berate you just cuz of your job. I’m sure these people don’t do that to people who work at McD’s n shit..
Some security officers are dicks, I don’t like when they overstep their authority, but until they do I remain respectful. They definitely got a tough job whether it’s just dealing with the boredom or the craziness that might happen any minute.
they’re just jealous op, you were able to fill out the application form. they probably can’t spell either
Right on, OP.
If you truly do fit the bill of a hard-working employee, then kudos to you. I’d choose a hard working private security fella over a corrupt 100k earner any day. Integrity, moral value, conscious, sense of purpose…I don’t know if we are overly obsessed with punishing poor behaviour and/or do not effectively reward individuals who possess these characteristics, but goddamn, it’s a sad state of affairs. Some of (again, not all) of the high powered, high influence individuals (head of IMF, for starters), seem to exude this total arrogance, holier-than-thou/i-can-sexually-assualt-chicks-and-get-away-with-it mentality. bullshit. It’s really too bad honesty, hard work, and doing “what’s right” weren’t worth more than they apparently are.
Listen, I’ve bartended and I’ve worked retail so I know the kinds of crap you guys have to put up with. Most of you guys have way more patience than me. Keep up the good work.
Security people are awesome. My youngest works in retail and their mall security has always showed up promptly to deal with shoplifters. I give them brownie points for putting up with the dredges of humanity they encounter on a daily basis. And like all jobs, you have your good guys and your useless dickwads. You sound like the former, OP, and for that, I take my humble beanie off to you.
next time o.p., just take your dick out, and say to them,”suck my pig dick then”. if they say much after that, just club them and stuff them in a paddy wagon as a drunk and disorderly. you got the power to do so.
Some people don’t like the idea that someone beneath them could assert authority over them.
Of course, these people BELIEVE you’re beneath them, which is the whole problem.
The way I see it, we all have a job to do. My dealings at some of the bigger festival gigs I’ve played or photographed at, the security guards are my friends. Just because you’re not a “real” cop doesn’t mean you’re not there to keep everyone safe and sound.
I deem this a very valid bitch.
The problem with the security business is everyone wants it but don’t want to pay for it. There are assets out there worth millions and millions of dollars and owners gripe about what they have to pay. Most guards get minimum or just above (no tips) and their security company make pennies on the hour after expenses.
Yeah, it amuses me when I see those suck-yer-ass vehicles about the city
Every job has its stereotypes. All you can do is be the best at what you do and hopefully people’s opinions will slowly change.
..everyone is worthy of respect..hell give me a friendly security guard over some piece of shit lawyer any day..:)
Good bitch. Given the shitty pay, general lack of training, frequent stress and ridicule, and what are often exhausting sequences of long shifts at awkward times (and in awkward places for people that can’t afford cars), and it’s surprising that such a high percentage of guards do a good job, let alone an adequate job.
The public is getting a lot of decent security on the cheap because of this. Security guards fill in huge gaps that we don’t have the police for, and that the cops won’t do anyway. Unionize security guards, and give them good training and adequate pay, is my opinion. This won’t seriously affect guard employment, and it’ll help all of us.
sounds like an episode of Parking Wars
Those little rent-a-cop security cars are too funny….how do they ever expect to catch anyone?
You have my respect OP.
It is prolly cause a lot of you lot go on authority trips…
Like you are cops…
Thus people make fun of you.
Garbage men have to touch garbage, security guards have to put up with shit… Part of the job description…
I’m a starving artist, but don’t bitch about it cause I knew what I was getting myself into…
