Better late than never…

First of I would like to thank the organizers of this important night who let me take part in such an important protest.

Second of all, I believe that this evening was meant to inform the public of the abuse that women have had to face along with the idea that people should have the freedom to walk safely amongst the streets of Halifax. I do not believe that this was a protest meant to show off ones ability to hula hoop. We have seen your great skills at art shows and festivals before but I do not believe that your skills were necessary for the purpose of this march. Next time please march with the crowd. Standing out as a solo performer amongst a group effort is a distraction to observers.

Third and finally, I do not believe that it was necessary to express your comments of hate and distrust to the police officers who were only helping to make this march a safe one. If you have a problem with our law enforcement, you can march yourself to your nearest police office and make a formal complaint. But first, I would advise not wearing a bandanna around your face and speak directly to someone. Shouting random comments in the general direction of the police while surrounded by your friends in the middle of a march such as this is immature and will get your ideas nowhere. —Team Player

  1. See paragraph 3 for a textbook definition of “Feminazi” or the more inclusive term “Asshole”.

  2. Cray glue a dozen Lady Schick’s to the outside and make like Xena – Warrior Princess.
    AI-YI-YI-YI-YI-YI!

  3. Agreed. Assholery undermines the cause and makes everyone look bad. Regardless of people’s issues with police, individual officers don’t deserve to be verbally abused for the perceived shortcomings of law enforcement.

  4. How much you wanna bet alot of the people at these events don’t believe in punishing violent criminals (especially the youf) and are against self defence rights?

  5. Just another bunch of rabid man-hating feminazis whining and complaining about everything, including the police who would be the first people they go whining to if something ever were to happen to them. Typical of most of today’s feminists – complete hypocrites and idiots always trying to play victim.

  6. no, GF, violence is bad all around, whether perpetrated on men or women. Take back the night is focused on women and children because they often bear the brunt of societal violence especially on the domestic front.

ugh, feminazi is a horrid term. feminists come in many forms and with many different ideals. Mainstream feminism is for the most part pretty conservative. The media focused on a few radicals back in the day and painted all feminists with the same brush – which is stupid, but so are the people who ate it up.

  7. And…..violence committed by a man against a woman is just sad period. I don’t care for violence against males or females, but when a male puts his hands on a female like that it’s more tragic I think. Any two dicks can punch each other out but a real coward raises his hand(s) to a woman like such.

  8. Whenever there’s a legitimate march or protest they ALWAYS attract the rabid ding-a-ling, who then becomes the media focus and detracts from the reason for the march.
The police should’ve taken the hula-hoop made a cut in it, turning it into a long tube and inserted it up buddies stern tube.

  9. birdie, it might be easier to get access to a good camers that an extra large scanner.
