What’s up with that? I just watched the Habs lose to Washington 5-1, questionable calls all round. Started watching the Vancouver LA game, and the same thing seems to be happening. WTF is going on here, it can’t just be me is it?
Is it a short person syndrome or is it something from the higher ups that a Canadian team “shall never win the Stanley Cup?”
We as Canadians are surely getting ripped off this playoff season because someone wants an American team in the finals to sell the NHL to some parts of the US that should never have an NHL Team. Jesus this is really pissing me off.—A Fair Play Hockey Fan Dammit

Watching every Canadian team that made it to the play-offs choke after their first game has been a major bummer. But we should be used to it by now, eh?
I think that’s why the playoffs are ridiculously long in hockey…
you’re gonna have to consistently suck to get the boot.
just be glad it wasn’t football or they’d already be done with.
I had to watch the Habs on mute because of that fuckhead Pierre Maguire. I would have listened in French but I hate when they yell ‘Le But’ and it wasn’t Montreal who scored.
~small voice here~ uhm, what about the number of Canadians playing for Washington? Can’t we be happy for them?… there’s room in the HOF for them too, right?
What Canadian team? Show me an NHL team with 100% Canadian nationals in the lineup and I’ll call that a Canadian team. Who gives a fuck where they’re based.
Paranoid lunacy lurks in the heart of every Habs fan!
that is very excellent mr. buck. so true
when haven’t they sucked, in the last 15 or so years.
well if any of our canadian teams had the kind of money some of the american teams have, then we could afford to keep our top canadian players in canada.
Ninja_Boot, the Leafs are the richest team in hockey. That’s about all I need to say on that subject. As for the referee concept, I call BS. Even the worst reffing can be overcome on the scoresheet.
I agree, the reffing is very spotty. Pittsburgh gets the shitty end of the stick a lot, and on the other side of the coin, Ovechkin gets away with some pretty sketchy hits. he may be talented but they need to reign in his springboard checks.
I didn’t play close attention to the reffing in the Habs/Wash game, so can’t comment.
BUT the talking by ALL the announcers is way oout of hand. I remember an entire play, about 90 seconds, where the main announcer (Bob Cole?) yapped about something when the play was going on. SHUT UP YOU ASSWIPES, we don’t need an analysis about why the puck ended up offside every fuckin’ time or why the goalie’s hamstrings are tight!
Again I say, I watch with the TV muted and music cranking.
