To the blonde lady in the silver Pontiac Vibe in Bayers Lake yesterday afternoon: RED lights mean STOP. Yes, in Nova Scotia you can turn right on a red light. Hopefully you read more of the drivers training manual than that. Just because you can doesn’t mean it gives you right of way. If the light is red, you still need to STOP and make sure that there is no other traffic going through the green light first.

I was appalled, I almost hit you because you didn’t even slow down coming out of the grocery store exit. I don’t even know if you saw me, but you should have considering I had a green light and you did not. The kicker? You have a “baby on board” sticker on your rear window. Had I not slammed on my brakes, my front bumper would be face to face with your child. It’s 4pm on a Monday – surely there is nowhere pressing that you need to be that fast. SLOW DOWN and STOP for the RED please! —Smart and Safe Driver

  1. What’s most disturbing are the nimrods who make these type of errors and then explode behind the wheel because the other driver didn’t read their fucking mind.

  2. OB …are you sure ?
I was taught by the drivers & their habits in Nova Scotia…that Green means go , Yellow means go faster, & red means stop if its convenient, ahhh what the hell go through it at the very begining, if you don’t see a cop !
Since that’s how the majority of drivers drive…& the old monkey see, monkey do behaviour is what most people live by ! means you pedestrians need to be afraid…be very afraid !

  3. I like the pun there falling angels. These traffic bitches are driving me round the bend.

  4. maybe she thought it was for a whore zone, and wanted to get a good spot, before they were all taken o.p.?

  5. haha,

Better put the brakes on anglo, we don’t want to start a thread with bad puns 😛

  6. Shut the hell up, NGF. Your personal vendetta against Sebastien is your business, but your continued use of slurs is a disgrace to the whole bitch board. It’s not like the standards are real high around here, is it too much to ask that you’re not a TOTAL asshole?

  7. I’m not saying I agree with NGF’s choice of words, however, NGF is just trying to make a point, me0w. I know NGF personally, and as long as Sebastard hates on fat people (and his posts don’t get removed despite being reported by various bitchers), NGF’s going to hate on Sebastard.

His “vendetta” against Sebastard, is, in fact, not a personal one, it’s one many of us understand. Sebastard’s posts are a complete waste of bandwith, just like Sebastard, himself, is a complete waste of space and oxygen.

  8. I’ve been watching this cockfight for over a year now and while neither side has yet scored a knockout, I’d have to give it to NGF on points. (I’m still laughing about Justin Bieber and the bowling pins). I don’t for one minute believe that he is homophobic; he just has a pathological loathing for one specific individual.(A sentiment that I am totally jiggy with). And however he began it, when sebastabitch fertilizes his snippets of wisdom with anti-fatboy slams, I’m pretty sure he has only one specific fatboy in mind.

So, Gentlemen, place your bets and Laissez les bon temps roulez.

  9. Whether or not NGF is homophobic is besides the point, a slur is a slur. Would any of you have the gall to say, “Oh, it’s okay, he’s not racist, he’s just calling the guy a n****r to get back at him?” Why does the fact that it’s a gay slur make it somehow defensible?

I agree that Sebastien is obnoxious at times, but if that’s your beef with him – if he’s really such an obvious asshat – why is sexuality the point that you try to degrade him on? You guys are smart cookies, I’m sure you can come up with better material than that. Because whether it’s your intention or not, you’re doing a great job of making it sound like being gay is something insult-worthy, something to be ashamed of, which demeans not just Sebastien, but anyone else who is gay, and frankly, nobody should have to read that kind of garbage here.

  10. He wears his sexuality on his sleeve and shoves it down everyone’s throat here. If he feels the need be hateful towards women and people who’ve lost their homes due to fire I feel he deserves the hateful treatment back. Like I said before, if he can dish it out he can take it.

And he is the first person to drag peoples’ sexuality into things with his earlier references to straight people as breeders. If he can blanketl attack heterosexuality it’s perfectly reasonable to attack his own homosexuality. He talks as if gays are superior to not only straights but pretty much anybody and we know that’s just stupid.

Personally I don’t care if you dislike the language I use as I’m going to continue to use it when I feel like – and it will only regard him. Even PK reported one of his posts the other day and apparently the post is still up. And she did it just to prove a point really. It goes to show that there is a double standard on the board; sebastian can insult whoever he wants with whatever words but I cannot use a 3- or 6-letter f-word. I never knew narcissists to be such crybabies.

  11. I’ve never cottoned to the PC idea that some slurs are less offensive than others (redneck, pig, scab, baby-killer) and now that I’m on the downslope of my life I don’t intend to waste a nanosecond debating the point. I just accept double standards and hypocrisy as part of human nature. NGF uses “faggot” as a bundle of sticks to beat an individual over the head with and if some of his slams are blunt and crude and others brilliant (S******** has to play Devil’s advocate because God abhors his lifestyle – LOL) you’re just going to take it on faith that while I may find it amusing, it’s not going to condition me to go out and hang some kid on a fence. Free will and all that. And no, that’s not me declaring my white, heterosexual, male privilege to be racist, sexist, homophobic or even ill-mannered. It’s just that I’ll be triple damned in hell before I surrender to anybody the authority or competence to determine for me what those things are.

  12. Darn-friggin’-tootin’, Colonel! When we put our heads together and come up with great logic like this it lights up the room like a mighty sebastian!

  13. As I queried in my last comment, Ivan, I’m frankly quite curious whether you’d find it as amusing or defensible if NGF was calling Seb a n****r. Or is it just gay slurs that you feel you retain personal ‘authority’ to determine the offensiveness of?

You seem like a fairly intelligent and well-thought out person, so it puzzles me as to how you manage to make such ludicrous statements. Equating ‘redneck’ with ‘faggot’? Please. ‘Rednecks’ have not historically and systemically been denied their rights as human beings. No one has ever been rounded up for a genocide for being a ‘redneck’. No one has ever been savagely beaten to death for being a ‘redneck’. No one has ever had the word ‘redneck’ carved into their dead body. There have never been laws in place to make being a ‘redneck’ illegal, and no one has ever been denied the right to marry because they’re a ‘redneck’.

One doesn’t have to “hang a kid on fence” to participate in the oppression of a marginalized group of people, which is exactly what you’re doing by using, or sanctioning the use of, ‘faggot’ to insult someone. Even if that individual is worthy of insult, by using a word that has long been associated with oppression and violence, you’re demeaning any other gay person who witnesses its use, and perpetuating an environment that is hostile to gay people. You claim you’re not declaring your “white, heterosexual, male privilege”, but in fact, that’s exactly what you’re doing. Whether you choose to admit it or not, by declaring hate speech inoffensive simply because you ‘say so’, you’re essentially saying that the rights and feelings of that marginalized group are inconsequential to you, that so long as you’re having a laugh, who gives a fuck.

But of course, it’s easy to declare yourself personally ‘liberated’ from the horrible shackles of ‘PC-ness’ in an internet forum. I wonder how confidently you’d justify calling someone a ‘faggot’ in an actual room full of gay folks.

  14. I’ve said everything I need to say. Repeating or rehashing it will not strengthen my point or weaken yours. People draw their moral lines where their sense of right and wrong determines. I eat beef, pork & sausage by the tractor trailer load but you’ll never see me at a bullfight. And so forth. But when the buzzwords of Victimhood 101 make their appearance (“oppression”, “marginalized”, “hate speech”) I really do switch off. I will not be a passive or active witness to that type of mental Onanism.

But you do make one valid distinction. This is an internet forum where the entertainment value lies as much in people’s use of words as in the ideas they express. And so, to my mind, NGF’s comments are much more like a Tarantino script than a keynote address at the Southern Baptist Convention. How I deal with individuals in real life, is my own business.

  15. “No one has ever been savagely beaten to death for being a ‘redneck’.”

I have. Some big, bad-ass Mi’kmaq dude whooped some shit-talking guy once. Was like seeing a savage beat someone savagely.

Damn, I know a woman who once called a Black lawyer ‘n****r’ to his face before and in front of other Black folks. Nothing happened to the name-calling-woman either.

  16. Ivan: Spoken like a true scholar of Privilege Denial 101. Onanism, huh? This coming from a guy engaged in tenth-grader style giggling with NGF over the dirty words they scrawled on the wall of the john.

NGF, if you’re going to contribute to the conversation, please try to make sense. Trying to attribute something inflammatory to my use of the word ‘savage’ is a piss poor attempt at making a point of any kind, other than you’ve just proven that you are well aware of how words, and the context in which they’re used, have the power to be oppressive or hurtful, but that you choose not to acknowledge that unless you feel like it. Weak dude. The fact that you’re a member of a minority group that sees fit to bust out offensive and hurtful language to satisfy an entirely juvenile agenda says a lot about your character and your lack of regard for other human beings. But hey, it’s just the internet right? The way we treat each other on here can never, and will never, have ANY impact on the the way we interact as human beings in the real world? Right? Right…
