    But “the universal Epicurean pre-vomit warning?” I’m not sure Epicurus would have understood. I’m not sure that I do either.

  3. Television has created a misperception about what chefs do and how they work.

    At this point in time there are no totally new creations. Chefs don’t invent recipes totally from scratch. They create their own variations of long existing recipes. Most of them train at culinary schools where they have text books with basic recipes for many dishes, such as soups and stews and omelettes, and then go on to create subtle variations of them. The chefs alter the preparation method or change up ingredients but they are all still just creating variations of existing recipes.

    If the chef in question of this bitch is starting from a recipe on the internet then that is no different from other chefs who work from recipes handed down to them through training or in their chef training text books or other cook books.

    The art is in the preparation and the subtle enhancements the chef brings to the recipe – not in coming up with a totally unique recipe from scratch.

    The real issue seems to be that you felt mistreated by the “Dungeon Master”.
