The Coast has lost its way. The promise and potential to have some kind of real impact upon local readers never materialized (like it did in other cities.) Instead, what we get is watered-down publication, with spotty alt-lite content that has been drowned by advertising (and run by a clique of boorish 30-somethings who still act like they are the cool high-school kids.)

Ginger loved to be the first to comment on threads but with comments that were completely inappropriate. she would either slam the OP with vulgarities or suck up to them. She was inconsistent, random and probably had an actual psychiatric disorder.

I read The Coast. Well Savage Love. But what really annoys me is any alternative paper such as The Coast slamming “The Man” yet profiting off The Man’s advertising revenue. Apparently The Man doesn’t mind, so I guess that makes it OK. How can you slam advertising and yet give full-page ads to tobacco companies? It’s like those left-wing kids who slamm sweat shops, but only wear clothes from The Gap.
But The Coast is probably run by the kids (who are now 30-somethings) of rich families from the south end. For them running an alternative weekly is just a way to deal with the guilt of being well off, but wanting to really hang with the working-class.
But I gotta tell ya, the working class thinks you’re pussies.
The Coast is free because nobody would even consider paying for its content. So in this instance, you get what you pay for… nothing.
