I am a single mother. I support my child myself. I clawed my way from a “welfare queen” to a semi-successful job with benefits. I am now at a point where I know what I’m capable of, and it’s more than pushing paper and processing mundane information. I want to own my own business. I have a keen business sense and know that I could be the owner of a very successful business but I need a strong female mentor. I don’t have successful women in my life to look up to and I would love to have a successful woman guide me in the right direction.
Thank you —a friend in need

I would love to have a coffee with you, I’ve been looking for other single mothers who are working up the social ladder. How do I contact you?
Check out ‘ladies learning to code’ & ‘women in business’ in Halifax.
Also go straight to the women.
Talk to the women in charge of Adsum, Bryony, the Wooden Monkey….go talk to women social workers and politicians in your area like Elizabeth May. You can do it. Draw up a list of 10 questions you can ask any female, that are related to things you want to learn or know more about, so you can get their opinions and compare them to others.
You got this.
Don’t forget to teach your kid everything you do during this, while you learn it, so they have the skills later too.
