I have read the original post mentioned in the title, and all of the posted comments, and I’m still amazed that people can be so ignorant. I’m not referring to the ignorant as in slagging someone, I mean the kind of ignorant that comes from not having clue one what your talking about. And what I fined even more appalling is that some of those who left comments claim to be members of the Canadian Forces. To those alleged CF members, you don’t get to bitch about the military in a venue such as this. Apparently you’ve forgotten your PAO (PAFFO for you old timers) briefings which clearly laid out where, when and about what your permitted to speak about. I will say that there were one or two comments I read that were actually accurate, in particular the one about military personnel not having the right to refuse the shot if ordered to get it. That is absolutely correct. CF members are obligated to follow lawful commands, and getting the H1N1 shot would fall under that obligation.

Now, for my bitch, and this is directed to “Captain Underpants” who made the original post. You are quite possibly the most uninformed carbon based unit on this planet. To make such an asinine comment about the Reserves only supporting their country one or twice a month clearly shows you have no idea who the Reserves are and what they do. The fact that your a civilian does not excuse your ignorance. If your going to make comments in an open venue such as this, might I suggest you pull your cranium out of your anal orifice and do some research. And if your incapable of that then do everyone a favour and keep your uneducated, moronic bull shit to yourself. You have a nice day.

  1. Remember a few years ago when there was a media feeding frenzy centred around poor privates and corporals going to food banks because they were so hard done by? Those days of people in the forces giving a fuck about PAO (PAFFO for you old timers) briefings are over. Its just a job nowadays….

Great general advice, as well, but I suspect LTWWB would collapse if it was a requirement
    = p

  3. wow . . your PTSD kicking in there? ‘ A Veteran’

Perhaps you should turn on your TV tomorrow morning at 11 O’clock to see what a real veteran looks like. What are you a veteran of . . waking up hung over in some foreign port while sailing on board the HMCS Good Ship Lolly Pop. You probably trade in your ‘Veterans License Plate’ for a Handicap Plate.

  4. Oh yeah one more comment for ‘A Veteran’ the H1N1 immunization is ‘voluntary’ for the military Reg Force and Res Force. They are obligated to show up for a scheduled immunization parade – and then they can ‘decline’ without any disciplinary action (and even if someone does not show up for their units H1N1 immunization parade, fuck all happens). So who is uniformed carbon based unit now . . . ? Did you get your Handicap License plate yet?

  5. Even soldiers can be anonymous bitches. Where’s the harm in providing an outlet? They’re just people.

Veteran, there are no hard and fast rules about posting on this bitch board. Well, okay, there are a couple but actually knowing what you’re talking about ain’t one of ’em. Don’t like what’s said? Leave a comment and engage or PLEASE feel free to move on. Your bitch has about as much moderating power as I do, which is to say NONE. Get over it.

  6. Cranky – It is not now, nor has it ever been, “just a job”. Tell the troops coming home from Afghanistan in coffins it’s “just a job”. If you’re a serving member of the CF and you think what you do is just a job, get out. You’re a waste of rations and a disgrace to the uniform and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while wearing it.

    Matthew – Thank you.

Jesus luvs me – Actually, I do have a Veterans plate on my car, and a handy dandy handicap tag I hang off of the rear view mirror as a result of injuries sustained while serving overseas. As for PTSD, yep, got that too. Would you like to meet it? And sorry, I wasn’t able to turn on my TV at 11:00 am on Nov 11th to “see what a real veteran looks like” because being a veteran I was actually attending services at Point Pleasant Park. What were you doing at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month? And as for the H1N1, your only partially correct, but you knew that right? You must be a Navy puke.

Kay – It was not my intent to moderate anything, and I’ve got nothing to “get over”. I stand by my statement regarding CF members making comments in forums such as this. I do agree with you that soldiers have the right to bitch, but there is a time and a place and this ain’t it. The CF has enough detractors trying to bring it down, it doesn’t need any help from it’s own troops.

  7. And before every salior in Halifax gets a knot in their face because I said Navy Puke, relax. It was directed at one puke and one puke only.

  8. Hey, A veteran, whats the ratio between people actually shooting rifles/getting shot at in Afghanistan vs 0800-1600 I drive to stad in my civies, jerkoffs, eh?

For a lot of people in the CF, it is indeed, a job. Well paid and well cared for too (not that they don’t deserve it).

  9. Well, Cranky, like I said before, if you truly believe that what you have is just a job then get out. Seriously, pull the pin and walk away. People with your attitude toward the military are just civies in uniform, and your not needed. There are a lot of folks who wear the uniform who may for most of their careers only work 0800 to 1600, but they are also fully prepared to ramp it up when called to do so. Are you? By the way you talk it would appear that you a modern version of a D-Day Dodger. Your all spit and polish when the brass is looking, but running for cover when the real work starts. Pathetic!!!
