  1. Sup K-dawg.
Btw, I hear and say these words daily. Don’t know what you’re problem is. I’ve been told from people who have lived all over Canada that its an East Coast thing to hold open doors and say thanks ;D.

  2. I was back in NS 3 months before I heard a ‘Thank You’ No wonder servers don’t get tipped.

  3. you’re obviously hanging around with the wrong schmucks dear sir/madame, thanks for playing

  4. I find us, and Maritimers in general, to be very polite. I lived on the other side of the country where it was unheard of to smile or say ‘hello’ to someone as you pass them on the sidewalk. Admittedly some are worse than others, but generally and for the most part I think Haligonians are quite polite.
    That is all. Thank you.

  5. I always use manners, and even hold the door open for people. Try finding that in other cities.

  6. I think you get to hear more of those words the more you say them yourself. I have moved here from a smaller city in another province, and I haven’t noticed any difference. The only exception would be that teenage kids don’t say “thank you” when I hold the elevator door for them.

  7. you really don’t need those ones at all. a simple” go fuck off, or go fuck yourself”, would be better suited to most daily excursions. now it might be just me, but there is not too much to be pleasant about around metro or in n.s., in general. if you are robbed, beaten, killed, then you get ripped off, by either government, or some other little shit face punk. so, op, you use your words, i’ll use mine, which are more fit for society today.

  8. Oh hell, not this stupid argument again!!
They say Toronto is rude, but I often met random friendly strangers there- rudes ones too… just as often or as seldom as it happened in Halifax…or Guatemala…or any other fucking place I’ve been. D’UUUUUHHHHHHHHHH!

  9. Dude, do you have any idea how many times I say all of those things in the run of a day? Aha. Lots.

  10. I hear them often. I thank people after I check their friggin IDs at the liquor store. What more do you want?!

  11. This bitch is stupid.
This place is no more or less “rude” than any other Canadian city.
You just have a bug up your ass, is all.

  12. PLEASE move or fucking bleed !
THANK YOU for getting the hell out of my way !!
EXCUSE ME…but next time, get out of the damn way faster !!!

There OP, do you now feel a bit better ?
    I know I do ~;)

  13. I’m with NewtoHalifax. I never find manner’s to be lacking. Try using some yourself and you may be suprised

  14. I meet a lot of well dressed ass holes who like to walk through doors without a glance behind them. That’s a piss off.
Like newtohalifax and 1fallingangels1, you wouldn’t be so disgruntled all day long if you used manners yourself.
It seems people sort expect politeness to be returned, and when it’s not, they’re reluctant to put the effort in… but if it’s incorporated selflessly into your life, and it’s taught from a young age as proper, then there’s no beating it.

  15. The rarest thing in Halifax isn’t manners… It’s much more common than LTWWB updates, which is the most rare of occurrences.

It’s that or possibly a quiet night for the residents of North-End Dartmouth.

  16. Most Canadians are generally polite people, but you get some rude ones here like anywhere else. One of the rudest countries I’ve ever been to? Can you guess it? Good on ya, mate! Yep, Australia.

I heard Koreans and Chinese people can also be quite rude.

  17. Updates require submissions. The ones just posted were the only received since the last upload. well, all but one non-anonymous attempt that didn’t make the cut…

  18. Can’t you magically make them anonymous through your amazing Mod powers, though? Just wave your Mod-wand and ZING! Anonymity ensues. The shitty service you got at the Timmy’s on Spring Garden turns into shitty service at “Canada’s popular coffee / donut chain on a busy street in downtown Halifax.”

  19. I’ve worked /lived with people from all over the world and to generalize ; Rude: # 1 parissien french; aussies ;and asians esp. older chinese ladies they’re foul 🙁 Polite: #1 japanese esp. woman they’re scary nice , canadians, uk residents 🙂

  20. Hey now… no hating on Mod.
If people don’t want to follow the rules when submitting, why should she have to go through their drivel and be the editor?
that would likely take longer on average than asking Life Sucks to write a sonnet.
Perhaps there haven’t been any bitches because things are looking up and brighter skies are ahead.

  21. qpmzwonxeibcruv: i do edit submissions into anonymity, whenever possible.
    zZz: thanks for the back-up.

  22. You know, the french in Quebec have a rep for being rude, however, I have to say I’ve never met so many friendly people here when I’ve been out and about. I’ve been ATTEMPTING to speak in french (and they can tell the second I say “bonjour” that I’m not a native speaker) and most have been super helpful and friendly because at least i’m trying.

I’m pleasantly surprised, I really have to admit.

There’s not a lot of fat people here either. I’ve seen like 2 since I’ve been here (little over a week). But that’s a whole other bitch 😀
