You don’t deserve to scrub soap scum off my tub.

Drop names somewhere else.

I miss Finkleman.

  1. ??? What the fuck is the point of this post? Other than dissing one of the best guitarist to come out of Canada…

  2. Just to clarify, Bachman hosts a radio show on CBC, called Vinyl Tap. Apparently, the OP’s not digging it…..

  3. I quite enjoy Vinyl Tap, but of course it’s not so much steered towards the “US” magazine fans, it actually has interesting stuff.

  4. Clearly the OP is not aware of Randy Bachmans’ musical history, nor of his contribution to musical history. If Bachman is name dropping, it probably means he has either played with person, produced the person, has met the person, or likes and respects the person. I wonder how old the OP is, and WTF would he/she listen to the program? Hey don’t get me wrong, I was not a huge fan of BTO, but I do respect the mans spectacular guitar capabilities and knowledge. He is a veritable walking guitar database. Being that he has jammed, played or recorded with just about every icon on both sides of the pond, entitles him to name drop all he wants.

  5. Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings (Individually, as part of The Guess Who, or as part of other bands) are Canadian Rock and Roll. They are the Canadian Lennon McCartney, only better IMHO.

Randy’s knowledge of musical history is outstanding and most of all he is the quintensential Canadian (he is very (sometimes too) humble of his talentand influence he has had on many musicians (Both Canadian and foreign). He has earned everything he has achieved.

  6. Flyingbrick – not sure what age has to do with it. I’ve been a huge Randy Bachman fan for years and I’m only 23. Also, I listen to the CBC.

OP – Seriously, do some research on Randy Bachman and THEN decide if you respect him and his role on Vinyl Tap. He has achieved so much.

  7. So true. Bachman’s show sucks. His smarmy attitude and uninteresting stories about how he once wore the same socks as Little Richard while they rode a bus across Kansas bring tears of boredom. He may be a Canadian rock god, but he doesn’t have the radio personality to pull off a good show.

Finkelmann was the man. A God amongst radio hosts. I’d pay a subscription fee if the cbc could convince him to come back.

  8. Ok…I guess I just don’t read “smarmy” the way you do….I thought he was kinda humble, considering his resume, and public record. And if you think his adnecdotes about little Richards socks are unintersting stop listening for fucks sake. It’s a free country. The whole point of his show, is it is listener driven. You decide the theme and content. Demand a return of Finkleman’s 45’s(they do reruns), tell Bachman why his show sucks, he will respond, he always does.

Sorry Bawls, I shouldn’t assume. My bad.

  9. “I learned at an early age that I was given something special when I was born, and that was the gift of music.”

    -Randy Bachman

    WHAT A TOOL.

  10. When is this show on?

I loved Finkleman’s stuff years ago — anyone remember his weekend daytime show from Winnipeg with “Joe Fan” as his frequent guest?

  11. leek, I have no fucking idea why you consider this quote a valid example of Randy Bachman being a tool. Jealous much?

  12. If I had his specTACTular guitar shredding talent, which, yeah, I don’t, I certainly hope I wouldn’t blow such magnificent steam outta my arse unless I was propelling a goddamn train.

    In short, TOOL.

  13. Way to go leek, you just qualified yourself for gossip mag editor status! you threw out a quote whithout the leadup question included..you pass;~)

another of my faves?; “I don’t know anything about music. In my line you don’t have to.” Elvis Presly.

or: “I’d rather be dead than singing ‘Satisfaction’ when I’m forty-five.” Mick Jagger

I got a ton of ’em, but I think you the the point.
