I can understand OP. I’ve had this happen twice to my car. the last time was in the parking garage where I rent parking. I know what car did it, due to where my car was hit, their paint on my car, and a scrape on their bumper with what looks like my cars paint. But no one saw it so there is nothing that can be done :(.
Twice now I have witnessed the hit and run to a park car. I’ve been able to catch the license plate to leave a note for the hit car, and reported it to the cops. If only more people would do that, report witnessing accidents.
People are irresponsible and don’t want to own up to their mistakes. The same thing happens in small towns too.
Happened to me twice in my apt complex parking lot. Caught the second fuckers due to a witness.
The car wasn’t even 6 months old. When I park at a shopping mall, I’ll park as far away as possible (near a concrete island) to reduce the chances of getting hit.
@ Senor Campana, I don’t even park at the shopping center anymore. Last time I parked there it cost me $130 to fix my bumper from some hit and run jerk. I try to do the same with you with parking.
I live on a bus route and have a bus pass through my school. So it may be less convenient but it’s cheaper for me to take the bus.
Yeah, OP that’s not just Halifax, I’m afraid not owning up to your actions and responsibilities has become a pandemic.
I blame high insurance rates for this crap. People know if they have to run damage through their insurance their rates will skyrocket, so they fuck off instead of owning up.
We need a system like Manitoba, I think, has, where insurance is run by the government, I believe, and rates are far more reasonable.
The Insurance scam….. I love that its Government mandated…YOU GOTTA PAY THEM….they don’t have to pay you, or if they do, you rates increase ….. Great System !
Only a government of like minded people, out to help the citizens, could have come up with something this fucked up !
More… I’m pretty sure you aren’t mandated to pay car insurance.
In fact, I know plenty of people who don’t.
now, they aren’t allowed to drive… obviously.
but driving is a luxury… one they choose not to succumb to.
not to mention the fact that if I hit and kill someone.. and owed millions of dollars because of it awarded in damages.. and didn’t have insurance.. I’d likely kill myself anyways because I would be less than bankrupt and financially crippled for life.
Could you ask someone to review the security footage? (Assuming there is any)
That sucks OP. Check your insurance coverage, or ask if a “hit and run” is covered, but don’t let on one did. The better policies allow for small mishaps, without increasing your premiums. Take your anger out on a cyclist.
