This is in response to all the bitches about students, and the responses to those bitches being, “move off the peninsula, then.”
Well, what the bitchers bitching about students seem to be upset about is the lack of respect some students have for their environments.
If any large group of people was continually having huge parties, urinating all over town, and littering crap, who wouldn’t be pissed off? If the offending groups happen to be students, it shouldn’t devalue the complaints of those who live on the peninsula.
Yes, students bring in loads of cash for our little province, and yes, we can’t generalize that each student is a douchey party animal, but if students can’t give the area they are temporarily inhabiting under the guise of education a little fucking respect, then they are not going to receive any respect from the permanent residents of Halifax.
P.S. Students, stop being such fucking douchebags.

Everytime the students have a party or piss everywhere, call the cops. if the cops have to go there enough they’ll start laying out fines. That being said, you live by a college you kinda have to expect that behavior and should already have a plan in place to deal with it. Also, a lot of the asswipes I see wandering around drunk after the bars close arnt college students. They’re high school students or kids that are in between.
You live in the heart of a student ghetto and you’re complaining about students? What’s wrong with this picture? Suck it up or move.
I think OP has it right on. There’s no excuse for any place to be a “student ghetto”. If a group of people moves into your neighbourhood and starts wreaking havoc on the place I think you should have the right to complain about their behaviour! Why should the people who respect the place be the ones feeling pressured to GTFO?
“yes, we can’t generalize that each student is a douchey party animal” then a few lines down “P.S. Students, stop being such fucking douchebags.”
You, sir, are a fucking hipocrite. That’s my generalization.
There are demographics in this city who do the same thing, except they’re not as concentrated as students, population-wise and don’t tend to live in such a concentrated area. FFS, there are LOTS of permanent residents of Halifax that are younger and party just the same as students….but no one bitches about THEM. They just bitch about students because apparently every single one comes from rich Ontario families and has no respect obviously because they’re from Ontario and Ontario is bad! (don’t deny it — y’all doing the student bitching figure 99% of the student population is comprised of entitled brats from Ontario).
So until THOSE people (the non-student hooligans — and there are just as many as there are hooligan students) get bitched about along with students, I refuse to take any “all students are douchebags!” bitches seriously.
Finally, environments aren’t going to change just because you don’t like it, OP and all those bitching about students. Fact *is* you live in a student ghetto. Fact *is* that’s not going to change anytime soon. Fact *is* you likely knew this when you moved there because HAY it’s been going on for years and years…so, either suck it up and deal with it, or move, because nothing’s going to change — the south end will always be inhabited with copious amounts of students, some douchy, 8 months of the year. That’s just the way it is.
Exactly! Damn OP, you’ve been told. PK doesn’t open a can of whoopass, she makes it from scratch using only quality ingredients! lol
I have to admit though, the first month is always the worse (for student shenanigans, that is). It starts right after Shinerama, everyone’s made friends, then the student loan is deposited, and then this town becomes a drunk-fest, with nothing but a bunch of kids right out of high school on alcohol all days of the week. Just take the 1 after about 10 PM and you’ll see what I mean. That doesn’t mean you should lump all students together… There are plenty of non-university assholes in this burg, and they get just as drunk and urinate just as much.
The non-asshole students hate our douchey peers, I wouldn’t mind them getting a warning or some payback once in a while. There’s partying, but there’s also overkill.
Its frosh week! What do you fucking expect? It will calm down next week when they realize they have to stay sober to pass their courses. And obviously not all will calm down but those people will drop out and go back home.
PK opens a can of ravioli then farts. No whoopass; more like fart-ass.
I wish they would learn some bus manners – like giving up a seat for someone who is older or disabled…as well stop hovering by the doors sit the F down so we can get out!
“Suck it up or move”, “move off the peninsula, then”
These are the typical NS responses to ANY complaint ESPECIALLY complaints of poor attitudes and lack of respect… pathetic.
