Okay, I get it, you’re busy, you work maybe half the day sometimes, and it’s a hard life living in a cheap cramped apartment but at least you’ve got your dogs that you love so much. You love them so much you let them outside at least two or three times for a total of 7 minutes a day. You love them so much that I, as your neighbour, have NEVER seen you walk your dogs in 8 months. You love them so much you keep them next to you as you cough and gag on your 20th cigarette of the day, every day. That’s how much you love your dogs.
Do you really think just because you feed them ’til they’re as out of shape as you that you’re a good owner? You’re not. You are abusing your dogs while telling the world you love them. They could do without your kind of love. —Won’t Own Dog ‘Til I’m Ready

That’s really sad OP :(. There are a few people in my apartment building that have dogs as well. There are only bachelor and one bedroom apartments in the building, and I believe they’re only something like 300 square feet. I can hear this one that lives below me howling all the time and the most “walking” it ever seems to get is when the owner stands in the entrance doorway smoking a cigarette while it runs around, attached to a leash. I guess she could walk it and I just don’t see it, but the howling indicates otherwise. My neighbour across the hall (who I’m pretty sure is a drug dealer) has a lovely yellow lab or something crammed in that tiny apartment and he’s always fucking smoking and has the most obnoxious cough you can even imagine. No, you can’t even imagine this cough. My building is starting not to allow dogs in the building for all of those reasons. Moral of the story, don’t get a dog if you work all the time and live in a tiny apartment.
I’m always amazed at people who get dogs to take care of when they can barely look after themselves, I mean maybe they are lonely or something but why should the dog suffer
yeah, they should get cats… they provide comfort, companionship, AND can take care of themselves.
I know very few responsible dog owners… though there are some.
It just takes more commitment than most people think or are willing to offer.
i said this a zillion times before. if you can’t take care of an animal, then don’t fucking get one. people make me sick. they get these poor fucking big dogs, and don’t want to exercise them, just let them in home all day. to those fucking pieces of shit, i say, that hope the animal will eat you someday.
I know of a little old lady who used to feed her pet mini poodle chocolate bon bons. She’d share her chocolate sweets with her dog, when it died , she’d get another & same thing.
Killing them with kindness… is it REALLY any different than killing them with malice ?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I don’t know who you are, but I love you and would gladly be a surrogate mother for your reproductive needs if you ever found yourself in a such a predicament. That is, if I still had a uterus. However, I digress. Thank you. I desperately want a dog – two dogs, actually. But, I am gone from home approximately 11 hours a day and my weekends are spent running errands, trying to socialize and relax – kind of like everyone else. I made a choice – an informed choice – not to get my dogs at this point in my life. Putting selfish wants before an animals basic needs is NOT love – its heartlessness. Dogs are pack animals – not solitary creatures. They need their pack with them! As much as I want them, I have decided to wait until I am retired so that I can spend as much time with them as I can. I have a colleague who bitches about how her dog destroys the house when she’s gone to work and gone on the weekends, so she crates the dog while she is away to ‘protect’ her house. This is as much a form of abuse as taking a bat and beating the animal as far as I’m concerned. Do dogs a favour – talk your friends out of getting one!
sounds like trickie-woo from the james herriot books, more. she fed her dog cake
I want to get one of these guys as a pet:

But the more I think about it the more money and stuff it’s gonna cost me for a nice big tank for the little fella with lots of stuff to climb on, and whatnot. He is cool lookin though. Look at this one!

I’d love a dog, and they do allow them in my building, but I want a house with a back yard and a park nearby, or at least a decent jogging route before I get one.
I know someone like this, they have 2 cats, 3 dogs of the tiny and yappy variety, some fish and a couple birds. The dogs are always crazy and piss on her carpet and whatnot. She doesn’t have time for them, I don’t think they get much exercise.
Don’t do it Tommy! You’ll just get attached to them and then they’ll croak. Besides they ooze a mucous that’s highly poisonous if I have the right frog.
try something of the Bufo genus, like this

javagirl, as a person who has owned, bred and taken in strays over the years, i applaud you for your decision not to get one at this time.
there are too many people that should never have an animal of any sort, be it a dog, cat, or a cockroach. and the worst offenders, are the ones, that kill them withkindnes, as in chocolate, tea, and yes guys, beer.
did you see the documentary about cane toads, critter guy? horny as a cane toad, comes to mind
That was an awesome doc, Painey. I loved the bits where they showed the toads spreading through Australia – to the sound of marching jackboots. lolz.
some folks loved them, like that little girl, others drove over them with their cars
Thank you for posting this.
NOOOO, get a PUPPEHHHHH and name it Skittle.
Although those frogs look roight noice.
I have a friend who had a dog growing up and not ONCE, and I mean NOT ONCE in about 10 years did I ever see the dog outside! Let alone go for a walk. We heard every excuse from him and his mom and it was heartbreaking.
As a dog owner, it sickens me to see people treat animals this way. They need the exercise, they need the social interaction and yet the people who claim to love their dogs the most are the ones who deprive them of these basic necessities… It’s a shame, but there’s little anyone can do unless there’s definitive abuse happening.
