Go have a look at some of Tim B’s reporting on Securitas getting the parking enforcement contract. The company guaranteed a certain dollar amount in parking tickets would be handed out – so it’s safe to assume the enforcers have a quota.
Not necessarily. If I was planning on making money off of the behavior of inconsiderate and ignorant cunts I could pretty much guarantee my board of directors a minimum dollar amount with any quotas at all.
Must be tough to monitor the time and put an extra bit of coin in the meter.
Fever, All of them are. Anyone, who has a job that steals 20+ dollars out of your pocket, just because you parked your vehicle a couple of minutes past its meter, IMO is no better than a thief.
When you actually sit outside on a break & see a Ticket Nazi stop check a meter go down 2 more meter’s & then come back recheck the meter & pull out his ticket toy.
I have a car alarm that has a parking meter setting & it will ring 5 or 10 minutes before your meter expires (you sett it), & because of that I’ve found some of those meters are off. But there’s no leeway with the present system & people shouldn’t be penalized for something so petty as being a couple minutes late.
Actually, they should be penalized. That’s why there’s a time limit. I’m conscientious enough to plan ahead for that crap, so why should people that want “leeway” get it? Oh wait, because you want to be lazy, and not bother to drop some quarters into the meter.

I actually saw a meter whore waiting next to a meter, staring at it for two minutes then write out a ticket. I was sitting outside at a restaurant with some friends and we were talking about the douchebaggery of it all.
Our response was to get the waitress to change a $10 into quarters for us (less change to tote home for her so she was happy) and we each took a handful and went up both sides of the street, ahead of the meter dude and dropped them in.
I don’t understand what the problem is…whenever I had to park and used a meter, if I put enough coins in for 30 mins, I’d be sure to be back at the meter in 25 mins. But maybe I’m just crazy? If they didn’t do their job/issue tickets, then you would all be on here bitching about people that were late getting to the meters or not coming back at all. Who cares if they stand there and wait? You are in violation by parking there any longer than you paid for, what’s so hard to understand about that? You’re probably the same people that complain that a cop gives you a speeding ticket for going 10 over.

I’ve been ticketed before through no fault of my own. But now I use public transit and walk everywhere so no more tickets. Responsibility is such a terrible thing.

We the tax payers , paid for the roads & pay for their up keep.
Vehicle owners pay a vast majority more tax for roads than anyone else.
We pay through licensing taxes, fuel taxes & taxes on our vehicles, & let us not for get that wonderful cash grab called the insurance (Tax) . Yet to park our vehicles we ,pay yet again another tax & if we get stuck behind a group looking to buy a coffee, or our doctor or other appointment goes a few minutes late. A bunch of you assholes believe that is grounds for a $25.00 ticket. Fuck You.
Its a cash grab & just another way for the Government to rip off workers. That so many of you here believe its a great idea shows me just how fucking brainwashed most of you truely are…It is also the main reason I & many others no longer go anywhere near the downttown core’s.
Whenever I hear the whining about the problems downtown business’s are having with the loss of customer’s, cutting ticket prices never seems to come up, yet that is the prime reason I , my family & many others I have spoke with out here about the Halifax ticket Nazi regime are all in agreement, they only go there if they really have to. I know a couple here in Elmsdale who love big outdoor shows, & haven’t been to one in Halifax in years. They go to Moncton & spend their money there, rather than deal with the nightmare which is traffic & lack of parking & the Nazi’s on the penninsula of Halifax.
If you see a parking enforcement officer standing starring at the meter waiting for it to expire, sneak up and throw a quarter in even if it’s not your car. It would be funny to see his expression. Follow him around if you have time. Ask him lots of questions. How does that pen work? Is that recycled paper on the tickets? Do they come in other colors? Other shapes? Other sizes? How about in Japanese? Can I get it in Japanese? Do you feet hurt? What kind of soles do you have? My feet hurt. Can I try on your shoes? I see a vein popping in your forehead. Is that an stroke coming on? I wonder how long it would take before the officer snaps.
Should have come back after 45 minutes. An expired meter is an expired meter regardless of how soon after the ticket was written.

On the rare occasion I get a ticket I make damn sure I wander around sticking money in all the about to expire meters.
Got one last week and promptly went meter feeding.
I think the Nazis go home a little after 5pm so meter feeding is best in the mid afternoon.
We need a Meter Feeding Day – how about June 1.
As a side note I used to tell American visitors to throw the ticket away and give bigger tips at the restaurant.
