I leave the north end to walk to work everyday and have been doing so for many years. On days with snow, it generally isn’t too bad – until I reach the Police HQ. Without fail, there will be fresh powder running the perimiter of thier building without any signs of removal in the near future.
Why is it that my 80 year old neighbour can get up off his ass and shovel his walk, but our very own Police Dept. can’t seem to do the same?
Shouldn’t you be leading by example in our community?

Do you shovel the walkways at your place of work? Probably not because….you’re working.
Come to think of it, the hospital usually needs shoveling too. Why aren’t the doctors staying on top of this?

municipal snow removal is a union job, as is a police officer. Since when are the employees of a building responsible for the snow removal in front of their office building? You don’t see bankers in suits outside RBC clearing snow on Monday morning.
What happens when a cops pulls his back out shovelling snow and needs to take 6 months off? Since this is not an official duty he/she is performing I am willing to bet they get to take it unpaid without benefits and the department gets a warning letter from the JOHS board.
The op would be the first to complain that police resources are being “misused” when there is real crime happening if the OP saw a cop with a snow shovel ( off duty or not )
People love to complain about the police no matter what they do. Some people will just complain about anything they see in front of them.
The police are paid from our tax dollars to police, not clear snow sidewalks.
Well it being our union employees i quess its an exemption for them keeping your sidewalk clear by law in HRM . But – seeing how its union……. I think the bitcher is going more toward equality in law and by law or whatever . Look – yea yea yea they are paid to police and thats what they do – and your right . But whats stopping them from hiring someone to clear it ? What abour citizens that have to walk up there and pay tickets , pick up their criminal checks and report things or whatever ? If they were smart – they would get their Youth Live young persons to clean it everytime it snows and buy them all pizzas or something – keeps them busy as well . Either way – whatever – whats good for the goose is good for the gander. maybe they should be ticketed as well as the hospital , garrison and all and everyone that doesn’t adhere to stated by laws at the given time .
ps to melectric – most business’ have someone on staff or their staff clear the sidewalks infront of their business – wanna know why? Because yes – hit it on the nail – THEIR WORKING !!!!Just commen sence i fell that anyone that has people coming into their establishment – whatever it is – should clear their sidewalks to limit liability when someone wipes out and breaks something in the lworst – and commen courtisy to their customers and visitors or whatever in the most.

The city’s finest have more important thimngs to do than menial work shovelling your snow….they didn’t study hard for a BA in “criminology” to do work that immigrants and drug addicts should do for free!

Thou i saw just regular cops doing what they do best – shit kicking kids – but i failed to see their shovels…… Maybe she refused to shovel their walkway and they thought some affirmative action would change her mind? lol . Fuckin cops
