To the asshole who thinks that he had the right away after passing me at a intersection turning left then cutting me off as i am in mid turn on his peddle bike, you’re a fucking ignorant dickhole buddy. When i told you to obey the traffic laws like the rest of us on the road, I was doing you the favor. Instead you say, and i quote “fuck you buddy”, next time get run over you fucking spazz. Cars DO NOT pass each other in mid turn in a single line, neither should bikes.

  1. Ah yes, cyclists who don’t appreciate the motorist who looks out for their safety. One thing that irks me is the bikers who don’t realise that buses and trucks have a ‘tail-swing’, that is when making a left turn then right corner of the vehicle will swing out to the right side, and the opposite occurs when making a right turn. Depending on the length of the overhang behind the rear axle and the angle of the turn, the swing could be a couple of inches or a couple of feet.

The idiot on Oxford at Jubilee today wasn’t impressed when I pointed out that I hugged the curb for exactly that reason, as I was going to cutting hard to the left and didn’t need his bicycle or some other idiot getting nailed by the corner of the bus. He decided it was a smart move to squeeze along the bus and curb and didn’t appreciate me opening the door and offering some friendly advice as to why it was an unsafe action on his part. His verbal skills and body language told me he was too dense to understand it all.

And oh yeah, there was a reason I dragged my ass and kept hugging the curb and parked cars the rest of the way to South St. Hope the exhaust fumes were good brain stimulation 🙂

  2. true story. I usually see better bikers than drivers when it comes to rules of the road.
Bikers almost ALWAYS signal for one….
and tend to be much more aware of their surroundings, though I’m sure that goes without saying.

There are some idiots though… both behind the wheel and handlebars… that make everyone else look pretty bad.

  3. run him over next time – why not – if a car did that and caused a collision – he’d be ticketed for failing to yeid – same a bike – but a car affords protection in a collision to a certain degree – so yea when you run him over – it’s all good and at the same time you can watch him get a failing to yeaid ticket while being loaded in the ambulance . Dumb ass bike riders outta learn like the rest of the drivers because the same rules apply

  4. Reminds me of a week or so ago when I was turning left onto Quinnpool from Vernon. I’m move into the left turning lane just as I pass Pepperill and take up the whole lane so theres no confusion as to where I’m going. Doesn’t some bitch in a monster truck freak out, blow her horn and blast past me by going into the right turning lane? The shitty part is, me being in the centre of the lane would have afforded me ample space/time to safely transition to the far right lane of Quinnpool. With this monster truck blasting past me I was stuck cruising in the centre lane until she got out of the way and I was sure no other cars were coming up on my right.
All so she could sit in bumper to bumper Quinppool 5pm traffic. yay.

  5. Some cyclists are stupid people, some cyclists overestimate their own safety and pull stupid stunts, some drivers need to learn how to share the road in a safe manner, and some drivers are stupid people. I just moved from Halifax to Ottawa, where bikes and transit are kings, and the difference in attitude is remarkable. Then again, Ottawa actually TRIES to make cycling a safe alternative, and transit a viable option. I wouldn’t have ridden a bike in traffic in Halifax if paid a large sum of money, but I’m on my bike everyday, to and from work, with hardly any issues.
Drivers have to realize that they don’t own the road, and cyclists have to realize that a helmet is not half a ton of protective metal.
