I can’t believe public Internet shaming has now become a thing. People who shame others think they’re so righteous. What’s wrong with just telling the person to shut their mouth, or piss off? Why video them just to ruin their lives? Internet shaming is morally wrong, and equally as bad as online bullying. I hope this trend comes to an end soon. It is a form of social control, to keep us acting “properly” in public. Public shaming should become illegal ASAP. Please do yourself a favour and put your cell phone cameras away. It’s self-destructive. —Not interested in being shamed into submission

  1. And you think Bill C-51 is going to take away your rights? Wrong. You’ve already lost them. We’re living in a society run by child soldiers – with cell phones , rather than Kalashnikovs. Enjoy the Anarchism.

  2. Yes OB, that was a terrible way to show leadership around an issue. But there’s the eye-for-an-eye mentality. I thought it ended once you got an eye back; it appears two weren’t enough?

  3. Some good biatching going on today.

There was a very good article written about this focusing on the girl who made the aids joke before a flight to Africa on twitter and was fired before her flight landed.

It’s a tough one because I feel my opinion change on public shaming depending on what people have done. I acknowledge that this is not the best practice but its part of being human. Also those who are the most active in calling for the harshest punishment are not society’s best, as I’ll put it.

Buddy who defended the FHRITP comment in Toronto, he publicly humiliated that reporter, and he was publicly shamed as a result. Does he deserve to lose his job? Probably not. But can you punish the 100s or 1000s of people who contacted his employer? I don’t have the answers, but I’m starting to see where posters like Bro Tim on here are coming from more and more.

Well, what about keeping your clothes on in public instead?

    A pleasure as always,

    Cheerio!

  5. “Buddy in Toronto” wasn’t filmed on a phone. He KNEW he was being filmed by a news crew and still CHOSE to conduct himself the way he did. “FHRITP” got turned around on him and he fucked himself with his words. Brilliant! Guess he got a chance to see how inflicting harm on others REALLY feels.

  6. A minor point but there is nothing in the bitch to indicate the gender of the OB. So, whoever at the Coast posted the bitch with a “Male Tears” caption made a big assumption and would be well served by a bit of soul searching and work on their own gender issues.
