If there is a real service problem, mention it at the time, to give them a chance to change things. Seems you are just looking for a way to excuse your ‘chomp ‘N run’ action.
In some places all pub staff (usually not managers though) loose out from the tip pile to pay for the loss. And do not forget wait staff often end up working in other places and have long memories for faces, and they share info about deadbeats, so you may not be welcome in more than one pub / resto from now on. Hang your head low when you go to any of them.
I love that they titled their bitch “Pub Dining Etiquette” and freely admit that they left without paying for their purchases. Pretty sure that etiquette would call for you to actually speak up about the (horrible, dastardly) plastic cups to your waitress so she could have a chance to rectify the “problem.” It’s nice that you know how to spell big words, now maybe work on their meanings.

Some places only give plastic cups with pitchers of beer, because as people drink, they tend to knock glasses over, or drop them, and plastic doesn’t break.
If you wanted glasses, you should have tried asking for them, like an adult, instead you acted like a child and ran off without paying.
