I check kijiji every day to get an idea of how many people are selling/getting rid of their pets, and why. Every single day I am saddened to see yet another irresponsible pet owner trying to sell/get rid of their pet because their “new apartment/home doesn’t allow pets”. Did anyone put a gun to your head to make you sign the lease? Are there absolutely no other options available that would allow pets?
If you are thinking of getting a pet of your own, or already have one, you have already made the decision to sign leases that ALLOW PETS. your pets have FEELINGS!!!!! they LOVE you, and yet you are throwing them away like an unneeded piece of furniture.
I wish I could offer all these poor pets a home, but I already have many of my own. PLEASE. BE. RESPONSIBLE.

I agree, it’s sad 🙁 I love animals more than most people. There is nothing fake about their feelings or affection. Sucks that people are so heartless. Sometimes there are circumstances that can’t be helped, but to not take the extra week to look for a pet-friendly apt, is just sad.

hello fellow kijiji stalker. it’s like poking a sore tooth, except it hurts far worse.
those people just don’t think about animals same way as we do. they have ‘shallow love’ for them. all excited about getting a cute n cuddly or ‘rescuing’ one, but it evaporates quickly. then they figure its ok to ‘re-home’ . no problem. then a year down the road they do it again. and again. all the while believing they love animals. and get really offended when you challenge them on it. I don’t think it does any good to email them and tell them they are idiots, but I do it anyway.
I have lived in some very strange places at times because of my cats. I would rather live in a box under the bridge than live with myself if I had tossed them aside.

A good friend of mine adopted a sweet little cat from Kijiji. Within a day, the poor little thing began trembling uncontrollably, vomiting profusely – it took a few weeks to calm her down, she was that nervous – still the poor little mite died three months later. I curse the fucking creeps who knowingly pawned off this tiny little sick girlie on my friend – may the fleas of Gail Benoit infest their loins!
It is not the dog owner’s fault that so many landlords are against pets…….wait a minute….maybe it is! 😯
People can really suck when it comes to animals. I can’t even stand to think about my little girlie out on the streets for 8 years! And to think someone kicked her to the point where she won’t let you pat her lower back is just heart breaking.
I just want to cuddle her forever!

I have retrieved cats from garbage bins, half drowned, shot, tied up, taped up. my daughter bought a kitten from 2 boys who were playing catch with him. my pookie cat (long crossed the bridge) was tossed from a moving car over someone’s fence.
and yes, gv, of course many people let their dogs run beserk and wreck apts.
not the issue that this poster is writing about. this is about people not caring enough about a living creature they have adopted to take the time & effort to find a proper place to live. basically, they are choosing one apt in one location over their pet.
as they say. me, I believe its just an excuse. if they would give up their pet because the apt search is difficult, then they would also haul out the allergy card, the new boyfriend doesn’t like my cat card, scratched the couch, having a baby, don’t have enough time and my beloved pet deserves better. yeah.
As long as animals are considered property and the not sentient beings they are, this is the kind of irresponsiblility you will see. Some people should not adopt pets period.

Shit happens and one cannot always find a pet friendly apartment. You have no9 knowledge of the circumstances that led to the move. I suppose they could get rid (read kill) their pet, so you don’t have to read the ad.

Years ago, got a kitten at the wife’s request…time passed…she left. Still had my cat, found a little kitten in Tim’s parking lot on Quinpool, thought to myself, if I don’t rescue him, he’ll get run over. Had my cats approx. 18 yrs., loved them as much as they loved me…gave them proper burial in back yard…I think of them all the time and miss them dearly.

I see some of you didn’t get my post, so I shall explain it to you. Shit happens. This could mean a loss of a job or a transfer or an illness or any number of things as to why one may have to get rid of a pet that is no fault of either the owner or the pet. The OB appears to be bent out of shape because there are ads on Kijiji and elsewhere. Well it would appear to me that these pet owners are attempting to find homes for their pets, rather than having them killed. It seems to me having the ads is much more humane and your having to read it is too fucking bad. Of course OB if you don’t want to read pet ads then don’t go on the pages that have pets for sale or give away. OB, you are a fucking douche.
For anyone else who misunderstood my post, I apologize for not having been clearer. I tried and failed to be sarcastic.

WTF is up with that. Thankfully the tenants got together to place food, water and a litter box on the second floor to contain it.
