My cat is missing and roaming around without her collar. I did what I could, put posters up, distributed flyers, talked to my neighbours. So when my phone rang at 10:30 at night this Wednesday, I thought someone had found her sneaking into their house and I was hopeful when I picked up the phone that I would see my cat again. Instead, someone pretending to be an old lady asked me to describe my cat, told me she had caught a cat in a rabbit snare and was wondering if other people had lost their cats, and if I knew a way to contact them so she could ask whether she could eat their dead cat.

I guess you thought it was funny, because I heard laughter in the background when I asked who was calling. You had made sure to hide your number so I couldn’t trace you back. Congratulations, you managed to wake up and shake up a grown-up in the middle of the night, and make her cry. It was cruel, cowardly and uncalled for. Now that you had your fun, please have the decency never to do it again. –Not Laughing

  1. I really hope your cat turns up OP. And I really hope the genetically denuded miscreants who harrassed you turn to The Choking Game for their shits and giggles.

  2. There is a special place in hell for people like this OB. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is hope that they get what’s coming to them.
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. I myself have a dog and 2 cats and can’t begin to think of how I would feel if one of them went missing. Maybe you could post a description of your cat and where/when it was last seen on here. Help spread the word.
Best of luck and hope that you are reunited with your feline friend, safe and sound, very soon.

  3. the only saving grace on this one is that their call was so outrageous, it was not believable, and you didn’t get false hope for too long. if you haven’t already, put a notice on Kijiji and on facebook ‘lost and found cats in hrm and nova scotia’. i am on the lost dogs network and with over 2000 ‘shares’ sometimes dogs are spotted within hours, the cat network has same number of people. hope you have your sweetie back in your arms again soon

  4. This was really, really mean. People are such jerks, sometimes, OB. I really hope your kitty is safe, and comes back to you soon.

  5. I read the first line of this bitch and couldn’t read anymore.

People are fucking cruel assholes. I’m so sorry your kitteh is missing and I hope you get her back!

I hope the people pranking you fall into a huge bucket of acid.

  6. that fate would be (while very painful… melting to death…. *shudder*) too swift.
they should be dropped off in the middle of australia with no money, water, or hat and left to forage the ravenous wasteland until being stung, bitten, consumed or expiring from malnutrition.

or better yet, locked up in Peña Dura

  7. no, that isn’t funny. neither is getting a call anytime of the day, telling you that your name was a winner in some obscure contest, to which you never heard of, less entered. some dude called me, by the sounds of his voice, from india or somewhere not close to me. anyway call was picked up at 5:45 p.m. day before yesterday. i had just finished a hard install, and was fucking beat.
i had put about two miles of net cable and security cables in place, and somehow, one was fuck.i had to take all the conduits back apart to get the offending cable out and test and install the new one. after finally getting all this shit tied into the main console system, and installing the operational programing, buddy decides that he really didn’t want all that security equipment there. i reminded him that the contract said what i installed was the system they ordered and paid for upfront, installation included
he says no, that will not do at all, so i just told him, it was now his problem. if he wanted me to remove everything, he would have to pay extra for it. and the money i had already recieved, would not be refunded. the stuff he got was his, and i could not, and would not take it back. he said fine then, leave it the way it is.
so i just walked out the door, and said fuck it. you learn as you go along o.p., that some people are just assholes. but this guy learned a 9 thousand dollar lesson, in not going back on your word. i am ahead by the cash, but behind by 2 jobs that i could have done, for a lot more, in a lot less time. so is my miserable life, oh dear.

  8. Sorry to hear about your cat OP. The callers are just complete idiots, pity them. They have to go through life.. ah.. being themselves.

  9. I am really sorry your cat is missing. I have been looking for someone’s lost cat and I am pretty sure it’s yours. I have seen posters of a sweet calico without a collar who is missing in my neighborhood. I’ve talked with a couple of neighbors about this poor lost cat too. I think I used to see her at the pharmacy up the street from me and I am sure I would recognize her. I haven’t seen her lately, not since I saw your posters. But Ive been wanting to find her wanting to be able to call you saying, “hey, I think I found your lovely cat!” I know this doesn’t mean shit in some ways because I haven’t found your cat. But I wanted you to know that some people in this neighborhood – me and others – have been feeling a lot of empathy for you and that your efforts have not just led to some asshole playing you for a cheap thrill. You never know, we might find her. I will keep my eyes peeled.

  10. What absolute monsters. How could anyone think that sort of thing is funny? I don’t understand it at all.

So sorry about your cat. I know how you feel, my cat got lost a few days ago and I was heartbroken – but I found her! She wasn’t all that far away, either.

But you should know that I had fully expected her to come to me if she heard the sound of my voice – and she didn’t. Indoor cats apparently often go into mild shock if they are lost outside. So make sure that you are looking under bushes and stairs during your search. That’s how I found mine – and even when I was looking her straight in the eyes she was still just frozen to the spot.

Don’t give up hope! I think I saw your post on the Lost Cats FB page, too – I’ll keep my eyes open for her.
